I was thirty five years old when I made my first visit to WDW. We drove from Vermont in February of 1983. It's a long story how I happened to go just then, but it isn't relevant to this story. There were 4 of us, me, my wife and my two kids ages 7 & 9. I didn't know what to expect. The internet didn't exist back then and the only thing I knew about it was what people had told me, so I went in with zero expectations. It was our first real vacation as a family so that alone was pretty exciting. Even though onsite hotel rates were ridiculously low back then, it was still more then I could afford so we stayed at a new Econo-Lodge offsite. If I remember correctly the nightly rate was $21.00 per night as apposed to the outrages price of $35.00 per night at the Contemporary.

I started to get hooked as I drove onto World Drive from 192. The landscaping, cleanliness and organization were evident even at that basic point. I must have had my mouth wide open for the entire trip, I was so impressed with what I saw.

The only downside, and I will get shot for this, was EPCOT. It had opened the previous October and like everything else I had no clue what it was about. We had a 3 day pass so one of the we decided to go to EPCOT. Unfortunately the ability that Disney had to move people wasn't evident and after staying in line to see Imagination, (just the movie, Making memories the ride wasn't open yet) a line that ran from Imagination back almost to the entrance to Communicore West, we decided that we would be wasting too much time just standing in line, so we left, jumped in the car and visited the Kennedy Space Center instead.

We went back to EPCOT on our next trip and it quickly became my personal favorite park, but MK was very close behind it.

As I said, we were stupid newbie's at that moment and didn't even know what was available to do. I don't think I even know that there was the Electrical Parade or the Fireworks show and always left before they began. Don't ask me why I hadn't read the park maps thoroughly, I don't know! Didn't think I needed to, I guess.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I have gone to WDW 41 times since then and DL once. I never tire of it and if I could afford it I would be there every month, except in the summer. I know enough about it now to know better then to do that if I don't have too. :)

Now if I can only remember what that website was called...

Then I saw my first movie in the theaters, The Little Mermaid, in 1989. By the time Beauty and the Beast came out and Disney Channel was having teen programming, I was hooked. Then a bunch of trips (94, 96, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02) with friends going commando-style and my magical memories were cemented.

In May 2003 I met my DH and in June we started dating. March 2004 was the earliest I could get him to DL. He proposed in Club 33 in 2007. We took his parents before our wedding in 2009, and although they speak no English, my DFIL was singing IASW and the Tiki songs the whole trip. Our last trip to DL was 12/29/12 and it was my first with children (my siblings’) and it was wonderful to experience it with them. I am really looking forward to sharing Disney with my future kids.

Our first WDW trip was 10/8-10/14 in 2010 at POFQ. It was so wonderful! I had bought the Unofficial Guide and we saw A LOT. It is not as magical as DL for me, but it is a fantastic vacation and I also love the cleanliness, and landscaping, and THEMING. Second trip was 1/13-1/23 of 2012 (NAVConference) at Pop! and included WWoHP too. We crammed so much in. One day my pedometer read 11 miles (DAK and Epcot – our favorites).
