You have defended torture in the past but played fast and loose with the definition of it (much like the Bush administration). So thankfully, no one in the current administration is advocating torture.

The Chinese merchant ships escorted by a China's fleet sailed on the Gulf of Aden when they met some suspected pirate ships. Thousands of dolphins suddenly leaped out of water between pirates and merchants when the pirate ships headed for the China's. The suspected pirates ships stopped and then turned away. The pirates could only lament their littleness befor the vast number of dolphins. Holding hands. But that was a long time ago. *sigh*

I still go to her house and PRAY she doesn't bring up politics (although on Easter she showed us the protest poster she made for the tea party).

Almost as good as wandering around Carmel at night on 'shrooms.

It's a shame that more of your posts aren't as personal or substantive or real as that one. In WE, you almost always respond with "I know you are, but what am I?!"-level PeeWee Herman-type retorts. You're better than that. You can think for yourself and post accordingly, as your above post indicates. Show us more of that. Please.

At all. But nice try at blurring them together. Flash forward to this decade and we have Bush administration lawyers specifically arguing that the Geneva Conventions were "quaint" and need not be applied to our current prisoners. (And you can argue whether that was warranted or not, but not that the policy did not change.) And then we have the Red Cross specifically saying that some of them were tortured, as well as prisoners we've released and admitted were innocent, saying they were tortured. <You want to know how liberals get my goat? They argue from a faulty premise, or against strawmen.> The only one I've seen doing that on this thread is you, Doug. As the above illustrates. And then you accuse others of doing it. And that gets my goat. Not "conservatives," because most try to debate sincerely. But when there is clear evidence that the treatment of our WWII POWS and the Gitmo prisoners were NOT the same (from the Bush lawyer memos and now from the Red Cross) and this has been brought up many times on these boards, and you still try to say that respective policies were "just like" each other, that's just willful obtuseness at best, and disingenuous more likely. I respect conservative thought, (especially "main street conservatives" like my folks), but I will never respect that, no matter who it comes from.
