It said in the article that he rode in the morning and the AAs weren't working, and this video was taken on a ride in the late afternoon.

Another thing to consider is that this scene isn't just in Splash Mountain, it can also be seen by the passing cars of the railroad. You'd think that they would give it high priority, as it is so visible and such an important part of the attraction. I guess I can understand that they may not have wanted Splash and Big Thunder closed at the same time, but at a certain point they just need to bite the bullet and do what needs to be done.

I've heard that TDL has standards for attractions and if certain effects aren't working, the attraction won't be open until it is fixed. I would assume that the Disney-run parks have similar standards, but given this instance, I really have to question if they do. It's not something minor, like a door between rooms in a darkride, it's the centerpiece of a headlining E-Ticket's grand finale. If that's not enough to close the ride until it's fixed, I wonder what is.

    Maybe Kevin Yee dreamed it.

Maybe the attraction hadn't been powered up yet.

Maybe, like the recent Jungle Cruise commercial, the animatronics on the riverboat were taking a break and didn't know that a log with guests in it was passing by.

Whatever it is, it's bad show.

Maybe they're on strike, refusing to move until they get fresh oil. I can see the headline in the Orlando Slantinel now...Robots strike, demanding oil change!

I can't IMAGINE where they got THAT idea from. Umm.......maybe from the way Disney ran the parks from 1955-2000 under Walt, Roy, Nunis, Lindquist, Dominguez, and Green. And then.......Al and Meg came in.....

Its funny you should say this as I reread my "Disneyland: Inside Story" book this week (A great book by the way), and one of the stories was regarding Adventure Thru Inner Space. A few months after opening the attraction was in a shocking state as everything was within arms reach and the public trashed it. After their experience with it, the imagineers coined the phrase "envelope of protection", so for all future attractions nothing could be within arms reach.

That said, our infamous last trip to wdw, the year Nemo debuted in the Living Seas and Everest opened, that was our experience. Major scenes were down in Potc, Splash Mountain, country bears, iasw, carousel of progress stuck in the same scene 3 times and the father looked like he had a broken neck), buzz, spaceship earth, living seas, universe of energy, great movie ride, expedition Everest (8 months post opening, not even disco mode, just pitch black). I love aa's and I was so disappointed. Even my MIL who is not very observant remarked at how the maintenance in Paris (the park with the worst reputation in the Disney universe) is better maintained.

That is aside from the bus problems, hotel issues, POP warner issues and dining issues we had. As many know, I came away feeling ripped off and have not been back since.

I would say that Disneyland Paris is currently better maintained than the Magic Kingdom.

Friends of mine just returned from a trip to DLRP and according to them the park looks so much better compared to last year before the refurbs started.

They also say that there are still some issues like Star Tours, the bad condition of some toilets and of course some buildings still need fresh paint, but in general the park looked well maintained and clean. Of course it's off season, but that even during that time the park can look pretty bad.

They didn't stay onsite, so they don't know about the shape of the Disney hotels.

When you look on how cool the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure is at Epcot still ,why is it the new sorcerers of the magic kingdom seems like it just slapped slightly interactive screens and no cool hidden moving stuff when you get it right. and I could go on and on

The video Kevin Yee took is kind of disturbing, in that the AA's are in odd positions, with necks off to the side. They look dead...so, yeah, very bad show. And if this was like that for days, or weeks even, that's terrible.
