I believe that look was abandoned sometime in the mid 90's though. The resulting look was to give the area a spookier look consistent with the story inside. Here are some pics from January 1999 that I was able to find on disneypix.com showing the less maintained garden front back then: http://www.disneypix.com/Magic Kingdom/LibertySquare/1999-01/HauntedD03.htm. I seem to remember the front having a more disheveled look for some time now.

It gives the sidewalks more 'character, not to mention that from a maintenance perspective those pesky stains shouldn't show up as clearly now. I like the brick pavers at DL also, but don't necessarily think it adds more thematic presence than the new sidewalks at MK's Main Street.

But actually walking through the parks, talking to guests and cast about what Disney is doing right and wrong, no, I don't believe she does that. <<cynthia harris had many faults, but you did see her in disneyland alot. >> Cyn had more faults than the state of California ...

What I care about is them maintaining it and cleaning it. You know like when they used to pressure clean nightly. They really did this until a little over a decade ago. And there was never any filthy disgusting stained pavement ...

That on the most basic level is why anyone associated with these abominations should be looking for work elsewhere. Tens of millions of dollars thrown out the window and the new attractions are less popular than the old. Sad, but true.

I have seen better themed queue lines at Sea World. It would be neat if Disney had created an Alien Comedy Club. Not a contrived character tie in. Aliens would work in TL much better. maybe a re-imagineered version of the never built Plectu's Galactic review. What about Plectu's Intergalactic Comedy Club? I could swallow that pill much easier!

Paul Pressler always looked very unconfortable dealing with cms. YOu could actually see the pain on his face. he was not an impressive at all.

You can see how bad the dirt has become dried glued to the floors. But then again... even Custodial CMs have told me the cleaning is not done nightly. Yet, Magament does not care... as for one.. they are out to save money and two, most guests to WDW come from far and nearby places that are not that clean to begin with (no, I won't be specific to avoid embarrasing the guilty), reason why to this day, guests walk at WDW in amazement of how "clean" it really is... (Rolls eyes)

To see some of the filth at the MK and Epcot, it's safe to assume if it is done at all, it's maybe once every few MONTHS. <<Also Cynthia did have as many faults as california, but the one thing that i admire about her was she was very friendly with us cms and guests. if she saw you working, she would always take the time to say hello. maybe she was fake, but still for the president of a theme park to do this was impressive in my book. perhaps it because Paul Pressler never went out of his way to do this. They still do Spirit, but not nightly. I have been to the MK at opening time, and you can tell the park has been washed when there is still residue of water all over... but on some other days at opening time, the park is dry like Glendale's coffers of ideas.

I'd still like to hear from CMs ... c'mon boys and girls, someone must know what kind of schedule they're on. <<but on some other days at opening time, the park is dry like Glendale's coffers of ideas.>> They have plenty of great ideas in Glendale. The problem is in the past decade most of them never made it off the drawing board, they were basically designed to go on walls, sell as LE art and go in coffee table books touting what WDI can do (or could if the coffers were open). There's been a lot of change there recently ... including the return of a truly talented guy who was forced out a decade ago and will be leading the efforts to make DCA a great park. WDW's future when it comes to WDI is a bit different, though.
