She got rid of tons of stuff, and seemed happy to do so - 20 tees and tanks, 3 pr jeans, 5 sweatshirts, etc. for goodwill - and about half again as much stuff was just ready for the trash. Mostly, she pulled out stuff and divided it for trash or giveaway, and I folded the giveaway and the keepers to put back. No one lost their temper, and I refrained from lecturing or lamenting over ALL those clothes. So, a pretty good experience! More to come, of course... ;-)

If there's anything that looked like you could maybe get a buck or 2 for at a garage sale that would work too. One of the things that I found interesting growing up is that I thought my mom was WAY MORE sentimental about stuff that I no longer wore or played with and would guilt me into keeping stuff when I really didn't feel the same about stuff. She'd say "you don't need this do you?" "NOPE!" "really but I remember I got that when..You SURE you don't want wear that?" and that would be my cue to say "oh ok.. fine." and it would be buried in the back of the closet gain.. Doesn't sound like you're doing that! Good for you! =)

Nevertheless, I might leave a few of the Villain plushes out since that's theme I'm going for (although I'll also leave Big Al and maybe one Goofy and one Eeyore out). I'm a bit of a packrat... My closet has binders with all my schoolwork, starting with elementary school. The top of my closet shelf has all my board games, including the boxes for my Atari 2600,NES, Sega Genesis and PS2. I still have some napkins from DL. I also keep receipts from vacations, but those are stored away.

Try not to feel too badly about all those clothes that are being taken from your home =) I have a little story that happened to me recently that will hopefully help you feel less guilty about all the money you spent on those clothes (I felt the same way everytime I cleaned out my closet -_-) . I recently went through my closet again and pulled out some stuff I didn't need and instead of taking them to goodwill this time I gave them to my mom to take with her to work. She works at a middle school and knows of a student who is less fortunate. She gave the clothes to the school nurse and the nurse called the girl into the office to give her a bunch of my 'old' clothes. Now I wouldn't think much of it, but my mom was telling me about how this girl is constantly teased because of the clothes that she was wearing to school (old, worn out, lower quality clothes). Her classmates were teasing her and calling her some very cruel names (which I won't mention here, because supposdly she was getting called names that I believe no one should EVER be called =/). So as soon as the girl received my old clothes the nurse said that the girl was so excited about having 'new' cute clothes to wear she took off her old clothes and changed into a new outfit for the day and she left the nurses office with the biggest smile that the nurse had ever seen this girl have on her face. A few days later she came into my mom's library to thank her and was wearing some of my clothes and she told my mom how excited she was about having 'new' clothes. Just hearing this story made me feel less guilty about giving away clothes that I had spent so much money on, knowing that someone on the other end appreciated and valued the clothes more then I ever could by having them hang in my closet =) Just a little inspiration to help you along in the cleaning process I think that using music while your cleaning is a great idea! I used to do that when I was younger when my mom made me clean my room. I had the mary poppins soundtrack on a cassette and I always played 'spoonful of sugar' while I would clean haha (I was in my own little world back then and I would snap my fingers then 'magically' things would be put away lol). Sounds like you two are off to a great start on the cleaning and hopefully things remain peaceful and calm! Let us know how things work out this weekend!
