That's what happened in these last couple of nasty things that happened.

It wasn't the kids doing the killing.

Yeah, I agree. Heck, it might be easier for just every kid to be homeschooled---though incredibly unrealistic, lol.

Getting all parents to get teaching credentials...Yep, incredibly unrealistic. Sad, but true.

And what sort of security guards at a school are going to stop someone from bursting in with a machine gun?

I am not sure that this is the way to stop these sorts of things from happening.

Ones with guns themselves. Hey, at least it would be a distraction to the killer if nothing else.

How many guards do you think there would be? One for each building? Several for each hallway? One for the hallway and one in each room?

I think you'd have to start to count up the number of guards you're talking about here. I think you might see that what you are suggesting is not wholly practical.

To answer the original question. No, teachers should absolutly not be armed. This would only open the door for accidents and the weapon to be stolen. It also sets a bad example in my opinion. By the teacher having a gun we would be teaching kids that the only way they can be safe in the world is to be armed.

I ended up graduating in 1976 from El Toro High School. In 1978, one of my El Toro algebra teachers entered the school district office and shot the place up. No one was hurt, thankfully. In the early 80's, one of my Administration of Justice professors, a former police officer, from Saddleback College laid in wait for his estranged wife to come home from a date. He emptied his gun into her and then waited for the cops to arrive. He's now in Folsom doing life. I'm not so sure giving teachers guns is a good idea.

year I gradiuated HS here in Chicago also, and we already had 1 entrance - frisked on entry - full time riot police on each floor of the building - and we still had major issues.
