Lately it's been jewel tones, metallics, and glass to "go with" the decor of the living room. Looks nice. On the other hand, I love "eclectic" -- the mish-mash of hand-me-down treasured ornaments and new ones from travels or friends, the one string of lights that never matched the rest on our tree when I was growing up, the ornament that is getting pretty beat-up but you have to put it up, even if it's in the back.
