It certainly nails the look/feel/tudes of the 60s business/ad world. But best drama? Ahead of Lost? Ahead of Breaking Bad? No way. Not. Even. Close. ~Pass me a Dharma beer~

Lie to Me, and Fringe are shows I really like, but even Fringe got a little out there... one thing about Phineas and Ferb, you're never lost ..LOL !

It is. But to me, it's largely style over substance (and I have only seen 5-6 episodes because I just can't get into it). It's not the same as Lost ... a large cast ... diverse ... filming a very intricate story in Hawaii. Something that made people think. Breaking Bad is also something that affects you ... because it is so dark and so real (in many ways) about how people can spiral out of control. Both of these shows have style, but there's substance as well. Mad Men is quality, but it doesn't affect me on any level other than 'they sure got the era down'. <<as for Lost-- who the hell understood that show ? And I like sci fi..but the story line made the show appropriately named for me.>> Many people understood it. But it wasn't something that could be missed ... or watched while doing other things. It was an incredibly layered piece of TV ... much like trying to catch every detail when riding PoC ... it's not an easy show to watch. <<Lie to Me, and Fringe are shows I really like, but even Fringe got a little out there...>> Don't watch either, but intend to buy Fringe on DVD and start. <<one thing about Phineas and Ferb, you're never lost ..LOL !>> No comment. ~Is Iger really the smoke monster?~

As much as I love Lost (and I even liked the finale more than many of the other final season's episodes), I think the characters on Mad Men are more developed and more nuanced than the characters on Lost. And, like Lost, Mad Men is not the kind of show you can dip into any time during its run. It really demands that you watch it from the beginning.

But it just leaves me blah everytime I try and watch it. Most recently caught one of last season's episodes (they were in Palm Springs, if I recall because it put me to sleep), on a flight. I just think it comes down to what clicks with you. I would never say it isn't a quality show. I just would in no way put it on the same level as a Lost or a Breaking Bad. ~Look for Spirited DLR Musings: Coming Soon to a LP Near You!~

But I mean of that type of show. No pyro, but lots of lights, lasers, music, and screens. I wonder if they could rig water screens off of a building? >>> I do too ... and I didn't pay for mine ... and I'm honestly not that impressed. I like the generic WoC pin with Tink on it much better. ~The World is a Carousel of Color~<<< Tink is boring. Squirt isn't...He's new. As much as I like him, I do wonder if his addition would have been substantial for others in the show. I mean, WE know he's there, but Joe Shmo is just wowed by the spectacle of it all. Was it really needed for Iger to pull him?

And you have to hand it to them, they did more to change tie and lapel widths for the 2009 and 2010 fashion seasons than anything else. You see these kids and young business guys now in 2010 wearing sharkskin suits with slim ties and thin lapels and little silver tie bars and pocket squares pressed so sharply they could cut deli meat with them, and you just have to congratulate Mad Men on forcing a sea change in menswear on the country in record time. I was in the Nordstrom mens department three days ago in their big downtown Seattle store, and judging by the fashions on display there it was suddenly 1962 and the Space Needle was brand new. You can thank Mad Men for that.
