And, as mentioned earlier, Elizabeth Dole ran on the Republican side a few elections ago. I don't know of anyone who has any bias against a woman president or a black, Mormon or Jewish president for that matter. If Hillary offends people it may be her policies, her rabid ambition, her voice, or some other reason, but I don't believe her being a woman has much to do with anything.

The level of hatred for her is absolutely out of line with whatever she has done, though. It makes no other sense. It is rabid and unreasonable. Her policies are not all that different than anyone else's, and she is a bit more conservative than most democrats. So, there really is very little other reason.
Originally Posted By JohnS1 "Her policies are not all that different than anyone else's, and she is a bit more conservative than most democrats." From what I have observed, most people who oppose Clinton cite her tendencies to change her stripes according to whom she is giving a speech to, and becoming more conservative before elctions or any time she needs support for one cause or another. Their fear is that she tries to appear as a more conservative democrat now, but will drop that facade once she has gained the presidency. I don't know if this is true or not, but that's what I perceive as being the concern of many people.

It doesn't matter what else he says or does, just being 'born again' is all it takes for much of the republican party faithful.

They've anointed her the front runner, and they decided to treat her as an "equal", ignoring her gender, and bash her like they would any other man. Except, it is exactly because she is female that they do this. And a Clinton. If she does get the nomination, much less win the general election, she'll have the Hannitys of the world to thank. Seriously. What particularly entertains me is how these radio hacks will talk about an issue, assign a position on it to Clinton, even if she doesn't have one, and then criticize her for it. This has been going on for years, and when they do this, it makes me want to take a second look at her to see what they're so afraid of when it come to her. Because otherwise, I might have not given her much thought.

I may not know anyone personally who feels this way, but there is a sentiment about it. I was in a grocery store recently and overheard another customer going off on how they couldn't in good faith vote for a woman as President of the United States. The customer saying this? A woman. Approximately 60 years of age. I just don't understand this. The reason people weren't as vocal about Elizabeth Dole, is that there didn't appear to be any chance of Dole actually winning. Hilary Clinton has been in the running for a long time. And that seems to freak people out.

Somewhere inside you, you think "I guess I must really be what they say I am," in this case "I guess I'm really not 'ready' for the vote."
