Thanks for all the info, AV. Since I'm only 6 mos into my loan, I'm pretty much stuck with it for now, but so far I am happier than this car than I've been with any others. I did do extensive research for about a year, based on our particular needs... plus, as I said my husband has own several automotive shops and even gotten some recognition for his "findings" (fixing problems that were deemed unfixable) from the president of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury... so we went over all of this stuff with a fine toothed comb, so to speak.

Fortunately we have a 3/4 ton truck for all of our towing needs, so my Camry is mainly for running around town (I live in a small community in the middle of nowhere) and back & forth to work, so I think it'll work just fine for what I need. :)

Most cars have panic buttons, if you bought a van now you'd also end up with 3 more buttons, 1 for left slider, 1 for right slider, 1 for the power tailgate, and on some 1 for the remote starter :p

As well ALL cars are much nicer now. Way more features, way more comfortable, then even 5 years ago. Drive a pristine car from 1985 (I don't care if it's Japanese, European or Domestic) and compare it to the cheapest car today and the car today will drive better, have much better quality. What was considered luxury in 85 is now features that are considered economy today.

Well if you full serve the Camry is more convenient, you flip the switch on the floor (My old 93 had this, as well my 93 had

Joe when you open your door, look under your mirrors, you'll see little lights (puddle lamps) that illuminate the ground. If your like MoP or my parents you'll love this as living in a commuter village you have less street lamps etc. Cars from the 90's didn't have this. Wait until the distronic cruise control from cars like Mercedes drips into normal cars, you don't even have to adjust your speed your car "follows" the car ahead of it, it can brake, it'll beep if it has to dramatically brake. They even have a feature that has 2 cameras in the sides of the car that watches the lane markers to keep you in the lane. I kid you not. These are things Doctors, Athletes and Stars are enjoying TODAY.

Yes, cars have come a LONG way! I look forward to what's ahead for us in the next 10 years. It's exciting, really.

See even Toyota cuts corners here and there, like your hood is probably still a prop rod instead of self-supporting. And do they still have the "wonderful" cruise stick? So how's your dead pedal? And that light under the hood?

I don't like it when companies cut corners where you can't see it. It makes me wonder. Would you like a designer chair to sit on, or one you know may not collapse the moment your daughter runs and jumps into your lap?

And they all copy from others, some more then others.

Honda engineers (ever see a Honda not work?), Chrysler innovates (stow and go, air bags, etc) Toyota copies...

See your trunk, looks a lot like the BMW 7 Series huh? (Not that, thats a bad thing for you, but the guy who bought that bimmer is crying)

See the Tundra? Looks a lot like the F-150 huh.

Like the new Sienna, look at on Odyssey.
Toyota offers fold in floor seats now, umm Honda has since the mid 90's, Toyota offered power mid row windows, ummm Mazda has been doing that forever, Toyota offers the rearview kiddy mirror, oh did I mention Ford did that way back when?

In each case the Toyota version came out after, the vehicle it looks like.

Did you get the 4 or the V6 and if you got the V6 how's your gas bills?

One good thing is all vehicles are improving, was there any car you drove that you could never live with? Any you drove that had say their glove compartment door falling off?

What's the frickin dinging I keep hearing? I read some of the manual just now waiting for my son at the school so I think I figured out cruise, set radio stations, etc. but that dinging? Also it seems like a Huge gas tank. I just went from 0 to 65 on a lonely street on the way home and Brad and I were screaming "TEST TRACK and RNRRC" I'm not used to this 6 as I've always had 4's and that 24 thing. Whooaaaa > this car hauls butt!!!!!!!

The only thing I don't have is a moonroof. Heh oh well.

It's actually considered slow by todays standards, test drive a Maxima heh.

But it offers great value for the money.

Radio stations and cruise are easy

On, Set - you want to speed up press accel, you want to decrease speed press decrease.

If you have memory seats, set 1 to yourself, 2 to your wifes preferences.

The clock is very simple press H to advance the hours, press M to advance the minutes.

The tank is about 65l, the tank in my moms van is 98l, the tank in the Denali I think is 120l or so.

Your spoiler acts as an extra tie point :p It also acts as the handle for my trunk heh.

If you lock yourself in the trunk that glowing handle, pull it, see it pop up.

Your trunk release is by your left knee.

I wish it had a hand brake instead of a foot parking brake though.

Try to over tighten the gas cap, come on I dare you :)

My wife likes how it tells you how far you have on the tank, what's m per gallon, etc. I'm just not used to the speed. I felt like I was on test track buy obviously not the take off for rnrrc.

Most of the time you can leave your headlights in auto mode (left most on the dial), but if your state has laws to turn on your headlights during rain, you'd have to manually turn them on. (It runs on a photo sensor), likewise if it's foggy, turn them on manually, it may not be "dark" enough to activate your headlights. Your headlights will stay on for a short time after you turn the car off, to "guide" you to your house. (In 86 we thought this was awesome on our Chevy, now most cars have this feature)

As well opening the hood, you can do this in one sweep, pop it (loop lever close to parking brake), inside there will be a yellow catch to slide, lift with hand, the hood will raise the rest of the way itself (until it is older, then learn to lift it higher, or replace the lifts)

A bad side to the trunk design though is the old fashioned gooseneck hinges in the trunk, cars like the 300, Charger, Impala have little lifts, these don't cut into the trunk space. But lift over is wide and low, you will be able to get 19" CRT monitors into the trunk, however 21" CRT monitors must go into the back seat.

This is a bit less confusing then 2 sets of numbers.

You can get basically the same equipment (ie electronic climate control), it also has a powerful engine (probably a bit more reliable in the engine and transmission departments). Slightly uglier outside, has really big

If you could afford new i'd say Impala (cheap, big, reliable, and fairly nice looking, along with good fuel economy) The displays are blue instead of green, the instruments is yellowy-white.

The pull type door handles are bit easier to use with gloves on. Has a remote starter that works like over a 100 feet away (no keypad entry on the drivers door) Also has driving lights available etc.

Price should be very similar to the Sable/Taurus.

You may like the rear seat vents in your Sable, those who sit in the back will love them if you didn't have them before.
