So the idea of the sleeping bag is so kids can pretend to be camping. But of course most people don't know about the theme, and just think it's tacky for a kid to get stuck with a sleeping bag instead of a roll-away or a sofa-bed for $350. Now I have a question. How and how often do they clean the sleeping bags?

So, a combination of 5 people (adult and kid mix) just seems way to tight in my mind. With that said, my godkids LOVED the sleeping bags. We had a suite mind you, so everyone had a bed BUT the kids still loved sleeping on our patio in their bags and also on the floor of the "parlor." They were 4 and 7 at the time. I can see a teenager or even pre-teen thinking "huh?" I LOVE the Grand, stay there every chance I get. I get the concept of the sleeping bags but I would NEVER book a room of 5 people that was mainly adults and teens - just too small. If the rooms were like DLH's and had the 2 Queens and a day bed - no problem.

LOL..but, I love camping...although, to me...I wouldn't appreciate camping INSIDE a hotel room I am paying THAT much money for! Although, the idea of sleeping in the sleeping bag outside on the balcony is pretty cool. Now, that would be a different story...as long as it is safe. THAT, could make it interesting enough for me to WANT the sleeping bag!

I guess that I should not stress over this but for some reason I am and it really bothers me. I know its stilly but when you pay for 5 people I would like a bed for 5 people not 4. LOL Oh well we will see what happens here tomorrow morning. Thanks again everyone and I will talk with everyone when we get back.

They did NOT say the theme was a forest! I think that Disney probably knows what kind of theme they had in mind.

Everything in the hotel is meant to evoke being in a forest, from the coloring on the hotel, to the beams in the lobby being the trunks and limbs of giant trees, and the carpeting which is the forest floor covered in leaves and plant life.

Add to it that the hotel is also adjacent to DCA's 'forest' and there you go. It is a shame that they didn't make their rooms big enough to accomodate families-guess they were expecting, (or hoping) people would get two rooms instead of one.

We were told no. So I asked if the bags were washed between guests and was told yes or he hope so. So we requested extra blankets to put down on the floor with the bag. When we got to our room it was so so little I was shocked just how small it was. We have never been in a room with a view at the Grand and that will be the last time that I will pay for a view room they are just way to small for 5 people. Well stay in one that over looks the parking they are much larger and they come with a couch. There was not much floor space to put a sleeping bag and someone so he slept between the bed and the sliding door. We had a great trip and the room was clean but just no more view rooms for us at the Grand. LOL

I feel like it is an elegant lodge but for sure not a forrest. I anger at having to pay 300 + for a room and not even for a bed. Like was said before, if I wanted to sleep on a sleeping bag, I would go camping and that is a heck of a lot cheaper than 300 dollars!!!! I just can't understand why it wou ld be so important to say "I stay at the GCH" when you are stuck on the floor in a sleeping bag that the employees say "they hope is cleaned between people." Gorss. I can get a clean bed in an elegant, classy hotel for 1/2 the price elsewhere.

I dont feel that it is important to say that I stay at the GCH either. We do enjoy the GCH but I will never pay for a room with a view or sleep in a sleeping bag again that is for sure!
