Amazing how contemptful of their guests and cocksure they won't lose their jobs no matter how low standards fall WDW management is.

    DVC at the Contemporary?!?!

    What DVC?

There's nothing going on behind those walls. Maybe they're drilling for oil ... or tapping a new freshwater supply.

But you know that since Disney hasn't announced anything (much like the wand removal, WoL gutting, new Star Tours etc ...) it can't possibly be happening.

I'm sure DVC will gladly sell you points at the lovely, and almost complete, Saratoga Springs or perhaps our newest property, the amazing, exotic Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas!

    But DVC at the Contemporary?

    Crazy.

    Next you'll be telling me they're building a 14-story tower there. ;-)

I'm not a DVC member, so won't be staying there, but don't see why it's an issue for the property as a whole.

Is it going to be ugly? Intrusive? What gives?

The current trend in architecture is to really make a statement but also take note of your surroundings, and thus react to them. Swolphin is the old philosophy of boldly standing out and making a statement. The new DVC at Contemporary is standing out by being circular juxtaposed to a square building (oo, aah, geometry) but carries the lines from the A-frame. To architects this is perfect.

To the rest of us, it's kina ugly.

Just my opinion. I guess we will have to wait, and see when the new building, that they are not building, as of now, goes up.
