    However, I would say that if we were really interested in preventing illness, we would pay for every citizen have their bloodwork done on an annual basis. The number of diseases that can be screened in a single blood sample is tremendous! Catching the symptons in blood before the symptons become part of the physiology is the number one way to successful treatment and preventive medicine.

    Sadly, aren't willing to foot the bill for that sort of preventive medicine in our society.

    I used to get my bloodwork done every five years, but my health care plan has cut back on that so that they'll only do it after symptoms appear for a particular illness -- much too late to treat anything serious.

    Smoking bans can only do so much, but I guess it is a step in the right direction.

    And by the way, just because your insurance doesn't pay for a blood workup, doesn't mean you can't pay for it yourself. Your insurance company doesn't pay for a gym membership nor cross-trainer shoes.
