My next trip is not until spring of 2014, so I'm looking forward to seeing the new attration.

All in all I will miss SWSA, it's a classic that started it all.

It seems to me there is no reason to close it, for instance Peter Pan area of the park is SO CONGESTED I could understand if they felt they needed to close that location (note I did not say close the ride so don't freak out), but there is no such issue with SWSA. Is it that costly to keep this?

I think what upsets so many of us is that:
    a) We're losing yet another dark ride for no better reason than to add a Princess Meet n' Greet;
    b) The mine train is not replacing SWSA, it's a completely different ride; and
    c) They could have moved SWSA over to the expansion area instead of just closing it altogether.

The princess meet and greet is scheduled to open in late 2013. I guess the word temporary works when you are talking about decades.

I also agree that SWSA could just as easily be rebuilt anywhere in the New Fantasyland expansion, perhaps a much more appropriate spot for SWSA anyway. There is plenty of room for more rides and attractions ourside the berm of the WDW Railroad tracks. Something many of us on LP have been pointing out for years. In many respects the MK doesn't have the inherent lack of land problem DL has. In the MK, you don't have to forfeit a ride to gain a ride. Especially for Princess meet and greets which can and does happen virtually anywhere in most WDW parks.
Why does anyone have to "choose" between MTWR or SWSA. Why can't the MK keep both? Since both are darkrides and geared toward a younger set I see no reason why either can not be built elsewhere in Fantasyland.

I think a bigger questions is just how well is "land" utilized in the MK especially Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland? Sure, a Beauty and the Beast sitdown restaurant might appear to be a great idea, the MK can always use more sitdown restaruants. But why build a new one when at least 4 eateries in the MK remain permanently closed. In my opinion the Beauty and the Beast restaurant isn't even necessary. That space could have been used for more rides and attractions. Tents and shacks popping up everywhere selling more Disney wares in the various lands is getting a bit redundant since Main Street USA is one big mart now anyway. And althought train themed splash fountains look nice, I'm not sure how practical they ultimately are in Fantasyland. In the Splash Mountain area instead perhaps?

Since Toad was replaced with Pooh and Mermaid is being added as SW is being taken out, Fantasyland will still have just as many dark rides as it always had.

But I will say that the first time our family went to WDW, (1991) the ubiquitous witch in Snow White scared the hell out of our 7-year-old daughter. It really kind of messed up our trip... from then on we had a difficult time getting her to go on any ride that took place in the dark... which at WDW is a heck of a lot of them. Is Fantasyland, a place that is supposed to be geared to young children, really the place for an attraction like Snow White?

Yes, and at the place that warns you that if you go on Big Thunder Mountain with high blood pressure you will probably die. That is the problem with WDW warnings... they are so over-blown that no one takes them seriously. We had NO IDEA when we boarded Snow White with our 7-year-old daughter that the ride might actually be scary. It was Fantasyland after all!

Depends on how the story is retold. I hope they focus on the narrative instead of just zipping around scenery. There needs to be more than that in a ride dedicated to SW's story.

I'm not holding my breath on the Dwarves Coaster. It looks to have all but ONE "showroom" scene that wisks you through in 60 seconds or less. With the rest of the ride .. a view of landscaping.

With the dark ride ... It was 3 minutes in one amazing controlled lighting environment with enough special effects, and lighting effect tricks ... which to me make the quintessential "Disney" ride experience.

And rather than put the Meet & Greet in a different location (Lets be real - WDW has no shortage of space!) ... they could have saved this valuable ride showroom facility .. for yet another ride.

But like so much of this entire renovation .. It's a plus here .. minus over there .... 0 net gain over there ... tiny bit of sprinkling of that "pixie dust" over here ...... and I see one rather "Meh" renovation for Fantasyland.

There is a ton of intellectual properties that would have loved that ride building. But it's a lot easier and cheaper to tear out the track ... remove all the props, sets, and effects .. and make way for one large room to get your picture with a Disney princess.

Disney Corporate Downsizing at it's best!

Once again ... No reason to return to WDW.

    Yup. Very large downgrade.

    WHO SAID THAT?

    Trippy ....
    * The Beast restaurant DOES look intriguing to me. That's a net gain.

    * Someday ... some of the minor things will intrigue me .. if nothing more than a few minutes .. like the queue for the double Dumbos. And the castle wall .. I'm wondering how that aesthetic will look.

But I've seen and done Little Mermaid at DCA. The exterior will be nice .. but the main star here - Been there, done it.

I have no idea exactly how the Dwarves Coaster will turn out. It's more than 2 years away .. so the jury is out ... But I'm not holding my breath.

I don't see one ride in this entire renovation that is a MUST SEE, MUST BOOK THAT TRIP.

One liner like that .. deserves another.

    I'm not a Defender of Mediocrity !

Perhaps Meg has brainwashed some .. into thinking - This is the best Disney can do.

    But they CAN do better.

And until they do ... there's absolutely no reason to return.

I went in '92 and '95. I see nothing that warrants the thousands to drop in again, anytime soon.

I saw that as you saying you would rather have what was there.

So are saying that you would go to WDW to see Snow White but not the New Fantasyland?
