And yeah, she was pretty much acting. There aren't necessarily lines. They'll tell the "stars" what's supposed to happen in the scene, and then they ad lib. If they don't ad lib good enough for even reality television's low standards, THEN they give them lines to say.

However, I've always figured that the 3 houses were either narrowed down from many, or just they were given these options for air. The "decision" moments always seemed a bit forced, so I figured that must have been done for effect. Still, I do agree that it's fun to see inside some of these properties and get an idea of value in different areas. I especially enjoy watching the international version and seeing how shocked the Americans are at how small houses are in other countries, and the amenities we take for granted.
