It was interesting to watch the painting in progress--and to see that castle in its full glory when the crane was lowered.

ORWEN: Yes and we even got to talk with one of the Head Maintenance men who was supervising the paint job from below. He was standing on the ramp leading to the main archway. When we asked him about the castle's new color scheme that's coming soon, he surpised us by saying there would be a faint hint of pink to portions of the castle. While I don't mind pink on Sleeping Beauty's Castle out in California, I really don't care for it to be a color used for Cinderella's Castle--and I really LIKE pink. It's just that pink is more associated with Aurora than with Cinderella.

ORDDU: Plus it might make the castles appear a bit too much alike if their color schemes match. But we'll wait with baited breath and see what actually happens before voicing any further complaints.

I think it is great that each of the Cinderella Castles is getting its own interesting identity after sharing a very boring one for so long.

I think that at the absolute darkest, WDW should go for the color that DL had just before getting repainted for the 50th. That color was pale to begin with, and then it had been bleached by the sun for at least 5 years, so the pink was barely noticable. Compare that to the almost magenta color that is there now, and there is definately enough of a difference, while still having both use the title 'pink' for their color scheme.

Actually, TDL's recent refurb revealed a castle with subtle hints of pink around certain aspects of the turrets and gold highlights on some of the more interesting details on the castle to make them stand out more. Perhaps that is what they are planning to do at WDW now too. It looks nice in pics, but I don't care for how dark the bottom half of TDL's castle appears, at least in pictures. They don't need to do that to WDW's.

Pink on the TDL Castle?? Where did you see that?!?! There is NO pink anywhere in the TDL castle. As for the bottom portion of it, NO, it would look awful on the WDW castle, simply because the WDW is grey for the most part, and TDL's now has a cast of tan to go with it's darker rocky bottom. Besides, ever since I stepped foot at TDL in 1989, the bottom of their castle has always been a darker shade than the MK's, so that's nothing new.

In all the pictures I've seen, it looks like the turrets now have a pinker shade to them. You only have one picture of the castle left in your album to look at and the only other good one I could find was here on LP: http://www.laughingplace.com/L
otion-View-277.asp Apparently that is a shade of tan? Since you've seen it in person, I'll accept that. It looked like a shade of pink to me on top of the lighter undercoating.

This may or may not be what WDW's castle may look like. Since its been pointed out by our very own TDL expert that it is a tan color though, forget what I typed above. To me for what reason, it looked like a shading of light to slightly darker pink as you got closer to the tops of the turrets right below the roofs.

As for the WDW castle.. For what I have seen so far, it will remain grey for the most part.

ORDDU: The man who told us about the pink highlights seemed to a supervisor who was over-seeing the painting on the day we were there. But we still hope he was wrong and the castle holds on to it's more traditional color scheme.
