So why does Epcot face to the north?

    Has anyone else noticed the strange shapes of the islands in the lagoon? Looking at a satellite image of it (like Google Earth), you can see that they have curled ends. Although it looks really neat from the air, you can't really see it at all from the shores of the lagoon. Does anybody know if there was a reason (other than it looked nice) to make them that way? Does it have something to do with reducing waves?

    I don't think so. The only wave action that World Showcase Lagoon sees is from the wake of the fireworks service boats. (Or your occasional hurricane)

    I'm guessing it's esthetics.
