Plop down some artifacts, build architecture that suggests real, historic places. Add some education by slapping up images of technological pioneers. Feeble. It's really a shame that the NEW DCA is steering itself toward thematic representationalism, whereby each area needs to be a plausibly realistic and complete "wrapper." I understand the appeal--it was great in Toontown and Indy, it's what TDS is all about. But it is far from the only approach to a themed environment. Why not an area of the park that relies on abstract whimsy, rather than fake-real facades? The type of stuff that the facade of It's a Small World is all about, the stuff that led to the Tower of teh Four Winds. Strong on art direction and symbolism. Appealing to the heart on a different level. It would be nice if DCA was daring enough to offer more than one design sensibility.

Maybe that's the reason.<<< OK, fine then. What are they gonna do with the Soarin' building? It's not like they're gonna relocate it to Carsland. And Carsland is devoted to cars, not flight. How are they going to take the only remaining part of a whole land devoted to aircraft and spacecraft and justify its huge show building surrounded by the forests of the wilderness? I know it's rhetorically asked, but count me in with the group that feels that Condor Flats should remain a desert test field theme and that they shouldn't destroy that in favor of more of the same from Grizzly, with very little point in justifying the change.

Lots of new rockwork and many new trees added in the area. Oh by they way i am also one that likes Condor flats and really think that some changes could be done to add another attraction. The simplest way of adding some space for an attraction would be to reroute the pathway that leads from Condor Flats to grizzley peak. Basically I would create a new pathway that hugs closer to the hotel wing where the World of Disney store is. Let the pathway run partially under the monorail beamway. The Beamway could be hidden a bit by adding shields underneath the beam and then painting them green. Once the pathway is rerouted the whole area now used by the walkway as well as most of the unused desert/forest garden area would be flattened out and used to create a new attraction. To make the area a bit more organic instead of having a large show building i would create a highly themed outddor attraction with lush landscaping. Think a miniature natures wonderland. like this http://maps.live.com/default.a...D25E33DB!158&encType=1

Setting Soarin' in a mountain camp returns it to its hang-gliding origins rather than this convoluted amalgam of hang gliding and test pilots -- I never understood why Patrick, my Captain, was treating it like an aircraft when, even in its earliest concept art, it was clearly intended to be a hang gliding simulation.

Not that any of this is going to happen .. but it's an interesting chat .... like the Opera House/Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, as Main Street's centerpiece attraction for years ... It would be cool to open up the guidebook to the park .. and look at the attractions list with this one E Ticket for Buena Vista Street. And since the Soarin' queue has been lacking since day one .... this would open up possibilities to a proper preshow an attraction like this should have had since opening day. Looking at the overhead shot ... I see a nice long corridor leading directly from Buena Vista St., paralleling where the current line runs at the back side of the building .. and then re-enters the current point where it splits to "hangars" A & B. They close up the front ... Then..... I'd like to see some beautiful mountain rock facade work .. that blends into the future look of what they have been talking about to change the theming of the area. And the ride itself ... listed as a "Buena Vista St." attraction has a more appropriate 1920s theme (which is when aircraft really began to take off, pun intended) .. where the Sierra Nevada motif the area will get eventually .. is only a modest appropriate theme. I like the idea the current exit stays in place .. but redecorated, of course, so .. the ride exits you in a different land, which could be interesting. but... it's not as if they have this in mind. But it's fun to talk about it.

If the area was to keep the airfield theme goofy sky scool would be fun. Te themed altered a bit so that it matches the forest theme and plenty of rockwork and lots of trees to hide the majority of the structure

Rockwork over the whole building and you'll have a nice canyon to walk through in Grizzly Peak.
