    Thanks for asking, 2/3.

Our church has a large complex containing two church buildings, a music school, a child care center and a gymnasium building. They allow me to park my motorhome on the back part of the property.

It is located on the edge of developed areas and is two or three miles from where the Santiago Canyon fire started.

The fire did come close, apparently a few hundred yards, to the complex. It was evacuated mid-day on Monday. I went to remove my motorhome and discovered some sparks had started a small blaze just about ten feet from where it was parked. There were no flames visible at that time. A fire truck was stationed at the complex entry watching both the church and a group of about twelve large houses across the street.

They hope to be able to return tomorrow, but the way the fires have been flaring up every morning, will have to wait and see.

We live about three miles west of there and are not in any danger. The house smells strongly of smoke and lots of ash outside. But we are OK.

Earthquake insurance isn't very expensive, but it doesn't cover a whole lot.

These firestorms are rare things. I'm not happy about it, but I would still live here -- and I'm a relatively new transplant.

She said they will be coming to provide help in bringing cold and hot water and other things for those who are in need of it. I thought that was neat to hear. I told her how nice that is of them to come help. Kinda how many firefighters volunteered t help out in New York after 9/11?

Yeah, I was aboard the monorail as it was just leaving from the station (Downtown Disney) and I heard a siren go off. Few seconds later I look down below and see a firetruck I think driving out. When my friend came by early that night to pick me up, once we hit the freeway we could smell the fire(s). I believe a tree was also knocked down by the La Brea Bakery? I was coming out of DL I think and heard some chain saws, then I heard someone say that one of the trees got knocked over?

Wow, it was still windy? Man, I was there from like just before the CHOC Walk ended at DTD til 8pm and was very windy all day - lol it was nuts! Heck on the way there that morning we saw stuff flying all over the place like bark, hit the windshield of his truck. Then we saw some paper fly into the air. I remember walking from the DL Hotel area to Downtown Disney and the wind there was suddenly very strong.
