I can honestly understand why a lot of folks are angry with him for the stuff he's done lately, but looking at this picture and reading the caption, it made me sad, it painted a real picture of what these people just went through. I see this young girl, standing up straight, with one hand over her mouth (you know like after you've been crying?) approaching Bush as he walks up to hug her. The caption, "When he hugged my daughter, I felt like he wasn't doing it as a president, he was doing it as a father who sees a daughter grieving," said the young girl's Mother. The girl is holding a Snowflake Teddy in her left arm. And the govenor is standing behind Bush. Just reading that and seeing the picture, it really puts you in their shoes for a moment. Whether it's a lost loved one, lost home, both. It's almost an indescribable feeling. Hi Kira, where is Esperanza? I'm very glad to see you all made it out of mess safely though. I was picturing your area, based on my memory of visiting my friend and her Mom's mobile home area there, and the first thought that popped into my head was, "yikes! " Glad to hear though the good news about your friends and family out here though too, that the fires only managed to threaten their homes and not their lives, and that they were able to return to find everything still in tact How is everyone in Rancho Bernardo? The place my Dad works at, SeaCrest Village (a Jewish retirement center?) over there had to evacuate. I don't know if it got burned down or not though. >> Well, I heard that night that my cousin's house was destroyed. It's a roomie/rental so it's not his house but he lost everything but some photos, paperwork, and his snake << I'm sorry to hear that, Candice. Thats good though he managed to save some important stuff, especially photos which only possess priceless memories. And of course the survival of a loved pet is always good

It's the NBC video about the photo, and it's very moving. It shows pictures of the firefighters eventually getting out of their shelters, and the radio calls asking for air support that never came.

My sister, Kira, and my grandma all live in Hemet, and the fire was very close to them. It was scary to see...we're about 125 miles away, and the smoke was horrible.

The smoke here was absolutly horrible for days and I was even evacuated off of my college campus because the fire was so close =S Unfortunatly the captian that lost his life in that fire was a guy that my dad used to work with in the fire dept. and another one of the firefighters was a son of a lady I work with =/ It was a very sad fire. I don't think anything compares to the fires that southern california is going through now as far as damages and losses go. =( I'm glad that everyone here has made it through fairly unscathed! stay safe guys!
