Considering how many right wong websites and popular pundits have done so, it's the only logical way to read her comments. Yet the WSJ and Limbaugh try to make it about her and say she owes the public an apology.

The thing is, both Limbaugh and the WSJ editorial board are smart enough to know what she meant. Yet they pretend not to in a cynical ploy to divert attention away from the actual issues.

And then some people just copy and paste their tripe as though it wre thoughtful and reasoned discussion, rather than the cynical talking points it is.

I think you'll be waiting a while. Almost every single one of the statistics he quotes, misses the point entirely. Take cancer survival rates. Yes, it's true, if you get cancer in the United States, your chances of survival are usually better. But, since you live in the United States, your chances of getting cancer in the first place are much, much greater. The preventative medicine of nations with universal healthcare is almost always much, much better.

But the Darkbeer Link-O-Matic machine failed to point that out.

But like all statistics, there are some other factors for consideration. First, given a lot of the experiences of the industrial revolution, the bombings of WWII during the blitz (which no one in the US would understand what that was like, there are some awesome museums here that recreate it, and make me even more respectful of the BRitish people and their tenacity during the war), and the fact that twice as many people live on the island the size of the state of California, Cancer prevelence rates are higher due to genetics and environment.

Also, add to the fact that the stiff upper lip British man does not feel comfortable with the prostate exam, so they as an individual leaves it too late. I am really mad at my step dad right now because istead of getting himself sorted (he is having problems right now, with hich cancer prevelence rates in his family), he ignores it despite the doctors asking him to go back. So there are some culture elemeents.

But the use of asbestos, and the war time experience, mean a lot of older people who were alive then are dying from it.

The US only had Pearl Harbor to contend with. That makes a big difference that these stats dn't show.

And for what it's worth. When my dad 1st did contact the Dr., he had an appointment the next day, and a hospital appointment for tests within 3 working days. It was my dad who bailed out.

In my experience, that is pretty comparable with timelines for the US.

How do you like it, Hans? We looked into that place, but chose something near the ballpark instead.

I've often wondered about the units directly above the parking garage entrances and the "car coming" alarm, if you could hear it. That obnoxious noise would drive me dippy.
