Danny, I already stated that is was quick and dirty as a worst case scenario since the main person ( not Spirit btw) - said it was only 20 cents and Disney is a large company so who cares. The math was done to show it is not 20 cents either...

as a certified project manager - when Disney wants to pay me the going rate to put together a 100% correct analysis, I would be glad to move to the WDW area for a year or so.

( also add my cost then into the thievery )

This brings up something, why is ice water at Disney free? It costs Disney money for the cup, and if a CM needs to dispense it, labor costs. But yet it is free.

I have however, been to enough places where you are charged for a cup of ice water, that I predict that 50 years from now, the idea of getting a free cup of water would be so foreign, that if you told someone that you got one for free, they will believe you must have stolen it. And if a CM gave you a cup for it, the CM must not have been following the rules either which doesn't justify it.

Crazy you say, well in 10 years of Disney discussion I've seen several things that were "common knowlege" in 1997 become an absolutly ridiculous idea in 2007, so heavens knows how much things will change in 50 years.

I knew you were certified alright? ;-)

What methodology do you use VBDAD. Here in the UK I am a certified PRINCE2 practitioner.

Also you forgot about the amortization figures in your outline business case!

If some day Disney decides they will start charging for this service, do you think they will continue to give free service to any of us that once used to use Magical Express for free?

    I can here it now...

"Why can't I ride for free? I was told by Disney back in 2007 that Magical Express was free and I never paid for it before."

There were no such disclaimers with the mugs. If I recall at Dixie Landings it was reported as free refills (no parameters), Grand Californian it was free for duration of stay (which they have now suspended due to abuse - sign of potential at WDW?), and AKL was free for duration of stay in 2006.

So there have been policy shifts. I don't mind if people refill old mugs for that one resort, but I hated seeing KSC and USO mugs being filled at WDW, or Pop Century at AKL.

Ahh, but I'm positive certain people will have selective memory and claim they never read or were told this. ;)

Hey, dad, I certainly didn't mean to offend. In fact, if I'd recalled that it was you who did the math I would have said something like "with all due respect to my friend vbdad....". Where your number came in way too high was in the assumptions, that there were 4 people in every room, that every room is filled, that every person in every room is drinking free soda, and that every soda costs $.20. So I guess you really were doing a WORST worst case scenario!

I would think that less than 10% of the guests would use the mugs. Using your math, that's 12,000 a day. I'm also guessing that the cost of the soda and ice would be around 2 1/2 cents each. The total there is $300/day, or $109,000 per year. Still a chunk of change, but much less than the millions previously quoted. And I think my numbers are still too high.

Same methodology , different institute and name - I am certified thru PMI here in the US as a PMP. Some of my counterparts on projects are Prince2 - the formats are fairly identical as far as step indentification..

I am also Lean Sigma certified.

no sweat Dan, I understand and yes I did a worst case and even $109,000 is a far cry from 20 cents -- I also see people using old mugs from elsewhere at Vero beach -- ( and likely happens at Hilton Head also ) - add in DL and as any numbers indicate it is not nickels and dimes....likely not worth their efforts to tick off guests - but how many of these guests also feel 'entitled' to other things while on their stay....just IMHO
