Unfortunately for many, they don't have the luxury of being able to pinpoint their vacations to when everything is optimal at the parks. Anyone who plans those kinds of major vacations have to do it months in advance, which often precludes actually choosing the best visiting situations.

We have seen the impacts of excessive crowding on Disneyland, not just inside the park (try Friday nights, which are now busier than Saturdays), but in the parking lot(s) as well. Annual passholders tend to arrive with less guests per vehicle, oftentimes by themselves. This influx of vehicles is not good for parking, traffic or the environment. Despite being a self-described green company, Disney refuses to go beyond the bare minimum in working with the city and the county to make its resort somewhat accessible via bicycle, public transportation and foot.

If crowding and parking is not a problem, then by all means, continue to enjoy the park. Many people strive to enjoy the park despite the problems. However, I think it's hard to deny that the situation could not be improved.

I must remind myself that Disney does not release that kind of detailed data to the public.

    >>>and the mine ride, no no big thunder mountain is WAY better.<<<

Of course, you really cannot compare the two. One is a roller coaster, for cryin' out loud! Again, the Mine Train succeeds on multiple levels, and is a classic in a way Big Thunder never will be.

    >>>WE have better shops, better places to eat.<<<

Again, many here would probably argue that thought.

YMMV. Last time I rode SM, the CM loaded the heaviest people in the front, and left the back two seats empty. Physics was NOT our friend...

Really? Well, to each his own, I guess.

Still, I think one can give props to Knott's log ride - the first themed log ride anywhere and a real E ticket wonder when it opened (although Knott's turned around Disney's system when they had tickets - A's were the highest!), and also recognize that 20 years later Disney opened a better ride, with tons of AA's, great music, a bigger main drop, the big finale AFTER the main drop, a better storyline, the great indoor down-up-down drop, etc. Knott's had the first indoor drop anywhere also I think, but Splash did it one better with the down-up-down.

Knott's ride is still lots of fun and charming and one of the things that makes that park still worth visiting - but I can't say it's better than Splash. YMMV.

Anyways, if this topic doesnt continue about dl vs knotts who cares. Gives us more to talk about.

The one thing i also like about the knotts log ride is you dont get soaked like splash. One thing i dont like is the AA'S leave little to the imagination.
