Same here - I haven't been there since it was, well, a berry farm.

Its such a blast, there is real magic there, and I can feel Walt's spirit watching people have the time of there lives.

But I have to say, DLP is amazing. It is the most beautiful park Disney has ever created (except for maybe Tokyo Disney Sea). And it is definately worth the visit. I can't get over how many Europeans skip it and go to the terrible MK in Florida.

DLP is far more beautiful than even the original Disneyland.

    LMAO!!!

Reminds me of the bashings X and the other TDR guys give out whenever somebody says they would visit Japan just to see the TDR.

Personally nothing much else interests me in Japan(please don't say, "But Tokyo's a great city!" - cities bore me), so yes, I WOULD go to Japan JUST to see the TDR!

Couple the fact that Singapore airlines basically flies me home through Japan and it's a nice and convenient no brainer!

    LOL!!!!

Now THAT is a BIZARRE thing, isn't it?!?

I remember when our Today Show was at WDW for one of their anniversaries for an entire week. At one point they crossed to DL and interviewed an Aussie couple out there. They ACTUALLY said,

"It's not bad, but it's very similar to Dreamworld back home."

I showed a friend years later, who is a MAJOR Disney fan and he STILL gets VERY mad when we mention that comment.

I am not talking "has a chuckle and laughs about it", I mean, SERIOUSLY mad about it. Sometimes I'll mention it just for the show he gives me!

    ; )

Anyway, I have never been to DW but I know apparently in the beginning they had like a Main Street and even a country bears show but with koalas and kangaroos and so on. I guess I could understand a comparison based on some similar architecture and layout.

Otherwise though, I am glad Disney has never(and probably WILL NEVER)build a theme park here.

The mundane troglodytes in Australia do not deserve one!

LOL! Yeah, it has a train station at the entrance (although Disneyland's actually has a working train going through it) and... stuff. Well, a lot of the layout of Dreamworld is modelled on Disneyland, so yes, I can KIND OF see the comparison, but the difference in quality is pretty obvious!

    I deserve one :D

As I said before, when I was a kid (younger than you), my family always went to DL and KBF. I haven't been back to Knott's for many years, but it seems like less of a theme park than it was, and more an amusement park now. My recollections of the place was that it was Frontierland on steroids. Stuff I remember were the log ride, the mine train, ghost town, the model train store, the miniatures museum, the mystery lodge, the hold-ups on the train, the stagecoach ride...it was all wonderful.

Probably the most insightful comment so far.

As far as thrill rides are concerned, my wife and I were married inside the church at Knott's. THAT's been a 10 year plus thrill ride.

On my visit I found it really hard to believe that Disney had anything to do with it.

By the way, Tasha, this is what you would see if you were facing RRC and turned around:

Note ToT directly behind the Armageddon attraction.

I haven't been in a few years, so I don't know if that still remains quite as much as it used to. As a kid, Knott's always felt like a very satisfying dessert to the more filling gourmet meal of Disneyland. Both enjoyable in their own way, both complimenting the other.

The whole Roaring 20's area of Knott's when it first opened, complete with the charming "Knott's Bear-y Tales" dark ride was something really special and well done.

There were a series of little treasures in Knott's that became favorites, little hidden gems like the beating heart in the Boot Hill graveyard, the guy in jail that would talk to you and mysteriously knew your name! The combination of the smell of horses and leather and railroad grease and fried chicken and berry syrup on funnel cakes that somehow worked together to be a good combo.
