I always hate tearing myself away from Disneyland, lol, but I'll do it to give it a try. mousermerf, I know you always talk about exclusively liking Epcot, and it's Epcot this or Epcot that. And everything else at Disneyland or the DLR or WDW s just crap. But you do come to an online forum and discuss plenty of things besides Epcot all day everyday, and I do hear you talking about all of the numerous times you go to the DLR or DCA or about having dinner at this restaurant or that at DL. And if you really do hate it and still frequent it as often as you do, you should seek a mental health professional.

"Perhaps not at Walt's personal level, but they do know how to use nostalgia and play on people's emotions." That's exactly it, and Disney has become very savvy at getting people to make an emotional commitment to their brand at a very early age. I've been a Disney customer since I was very young watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday evenings. Other than Coca-Cola and maybe McDonald's and Starbucks, I can't think of many companies have that kind of brand loyalty.

But don't think either Mystery Lodge or Ghost Town are "haunted house type things." The former is more about NW tribal mysticism, and the latter is a recreation of an old west ghost town, i.e. old wooden buildings with western stuff, not spooks. Now, if you visit in October for the Haunt, KBF is "haunted house type thing"-central, with lots of mazes and shows that are genuinely scary (or creepy, or gross -there are a lot of them and they aim for different things). But the rest of the year, no.

But as a boy and man, who wouldn't want a hug from Tinkerbell and the rest of her skimpily clad friends - it's as fun as meeting the Budweiser Girls Magic Mt - haven't been there for 20 years. I'd like to go - as soon as I can before I CAN'T handle those rides anymore. It's kind of far though, compared to DL and KBF. KBF - still fun because they still have most of their classic attractions plus the extreme ones. And it's hard to beat the price.

We were there the year it opened, and thought it was pretty spectacular! <There were a series of little treasures in Knott's that became favorites, little hidden gems like the beating heart in the Boot Hill graveyard, the guy in jail that would talk to you and mysteriously knew your name!> That and the Haunted Shack, Bird Cage Theater and panning for gold -- very fun and unique at that time. <The combination of the smell of horses and leather and railroad grease and fried chicken and berry syrup on funnel cakes that somehow worked together to be a good combo.> I think it's must be railroad grease smell - very distinctive. And riding that mine train ride, and going into those claustrophobic caves, and the smell of steam and such. It was cute and quaint alternative to Disneyland. I remember going once -- maybe in the late 80s, and the original Knott's Family home and Model-T was slowly rotting away -- just off one of the pathways -- forgotten.

No, you'd simply like to pretend your experience is the limit of the universe. Thank god for the rest of us, it's not true.

"she also stated it wasnt the same as when she was 10 years old and seemed to be more geared towards little kids." This comment really struck me because it's issue that I've been complaining about for a long time now. Disney needs to be very mindful of the direction they are taking their parks. With all of the recent Princess and Pixar additions I have to say that I agree with her.>> Apparently, there was actually a time when the Knott’s were looking for Disney to buy them instead 0f Cedar Fair. I believe it was around the time of Disney’s failed American Adventure park attempt. There was a lot of potential there but I think that Eisner turned it down. There were some Imagineers who felt that the park had a LOT of potential and it would have certainly fared better than it has under Cedar Fair.

But, as someone else said, it was sort of the appetizer before we went to DL the next day. I haven't been back in over 10 years. Last time I was there, it was really losing that special feeling. A lot of the stuff that I had once loved was gone. I enjoyed the parachute ride, though. So, I've only been back to have the Chicken Dinner and it was good, but nothing spectacular. We used to wait what seemed like hours for that dinner. However, the boysenberry pie with ice cream on top was still pretty fricken' good.
