It's still good, but less of the stomach-dropping fun (yes, I find that fun!!) of the first one, and although I was really excited the first few times I went on it, the original probably was a bit superior. And count me in on the team who also always enjoys a trip to Endor - but it would be nice to have a new version for something different. (Do I sound like I completely contradicted myself there? I just mean although I do enjoy the current, a change would be fun!) I too want to know what DVC Dad told us about Pixar!

That becomes a limiting factor, in that they have to include trademark characters and plot references. And they're pretty much limited to a storyline about traveling through outer space. Not much different in theme from 'space mountain', 'buzz' and even 'astro-orbitor'. Let's remember that it's possible to have a futuristic attraction that DOESN'T involve space travel. Ten years ago, and even five years ago, it would have been a good idea to create a new star tours destination. But at this point they've waited so long that the whole star wars genre seems stale and played out. I'd rather see something new and completely different.

Couldn't they fly through the trees of Endor, or the city of Corsucant, or, as was rumored, follow a pod race through the deserts of Tatoonie? I'd love to see multiple films, and have the pilot programed to say multiple things. It would make the ride almost endlessly repeatable.

Star Wars in arguably one of the most popular if not the most popular movies of all time. People of all ages have some sort of connection to the Star Wars movies. All Disney Imagineering has to do is appeal to those connections, even is it is subtle, to create an all inclusive ride that has elements that draw ideas from all six movies. I think that we will see a new Star Tours before 2010 now that Eisner is out of the picture. If history has shown us anything, it is that Lucas does not like to stay idle for too long. He is always looking for ways to place Star Wars in the media for front.

However with Nemo opening and An Empty People mover track, there really is not much motivation to upgrade a ride that still brings them in.

I don't see why an upgrade should cost more than a few million. 100M sounds like a worldwide budget for ST upgrades.

Yet it's unlikely that they'll be any more 'new' star wars films, and the attraction will seem about as fresh and vibrant as 'back to the future' at universal - another popular film trilogy from way back when that nobody cares about today. I still think that as a viable franchise, star wars has hit the wall. It all happened long long ago in a world far far away, and the world has since moved on. So should 'tomorrowland'.
Originally Posted By DouglasDubh <If they were to create a new 'star tours' attraction, who's to say that it won't sit there for another twenty years?> If they do it in the manner I suggested in post 25, having it sit there for twenty years won't be a problem.

(of course, with lots of new stuff to look at while waiting. Do these things and Star Tours not only gets its life back, but becomes arguably the best ride in the park.

In theory, this is all good stuff, and people have been saying for years how great it would be if we could have several "destinations" to choose from with this attraction, but practically it all comes down to Disney and Lucas reaching an agreement.

" Well according to information about the franchise, it will be rereealized again and possibly in digital 3d. So i doubt the franchise would just die out. I am sure if they did re-release in digital 3d the franchise would do great.
