Was the expansion of Disneyland to the Disneyland Resort good? Heck yes, additional hotels and shopping were a very positive change. Alas, the second park, when delivered in early 2001, was very weak, and failed to deliver.

Originally Posted By idleHands >>Does LP ban anyone because of what appears on those summaries? I truly doubt it.<< It's not because of what's on the summaries. It's because of who reads the summaries, and what action they decide to take because of them. Jonv's writings as of late on many boards, not just LP, were getting more than average attention by the Burbank execs. And his latest writings about the small world changes were getting extra special attention. The connection between Jonv's posts and LP pertains to someone with great influence, possibly financial, regarding this web site. And that individual is very close personal friends with key senior executives at WDI. The very same WDI execs whose projects Jonv has been strongly criticizing. Jonv's ban probably had more to do with what he wrote on other web sites, than what he wrote here. As Spirit noted earlier, this whole situation was probably a setup from the beginning. The newbie troll was not punished nor banned, and this person had registered as a member just days before Jonv gets kicked off LP. Coincidence? I don't think so. This is one the primary reasons I stopped posting on LP, months ago. I don't appreciate the uneven application and uneven enforcement of the community standards. Some people are kicked off at the drop of a hat over misunderstandings, while others post their daily vitriol and personal attacks and never get the boot. Jonv had significantly cleaned up his behavior these past few years, and yet he still gets banned, while newbie trolls are allowed to essentially roam freely. I feel Jonv was setup to get kicked off. I believe the newbie was a plant, and that Jonv was deliberately baited by the newbie so LP could find some thin lame excuse tied to community standards in order to kick him off "legitimately." Jonv really did nothing that scores of other posters on LP haven't done. So how come he gets banned and they don't? This sticks.

He had some times when he was articulate and made powerful arguments. He had times when he just argued for the sake of arguing. He had times when he was downright abusive, insulting and out of line. Some of that righteous anger should be funneled into the good of mankind, like feeding the hungry, supporting worthy charities or generally fighting for causes that matter. To fight like this over something as insignificant as this event and to defend someone that has shown constantly that he was unable to even acknowledge any point of view other than his own, much less ever even see that side. Well, that makes no sense. We all know that he will be back in one form or the other, it's time to move on.

The fact that he was booted out in such an "out of the blue" way, is scary and disturbing. Even Doobie MUST admit that Jon has not changed his style much whatsoever in the past year. If it was okay for a whole year, why now? Vague references to "we've been watching you for a while", and "it has become out of control", and "our moderators can't cope with so many complaints", really don't cut it. I'm hardly the only one who is seeing this, or upset by this.

It was a nasty scene. More than one LPer has mentioned that it was very depressing and unkind. Heck, I've been bombarded with emails about this situation. I've never seen so many people upset (nor have I seen so many people joyful) over a ban. Obviously this guy is a polarizing figure. Makes you wonder who Doobie is really sticking up for (in my opinion, it's probably his mod crew). Why exactly should I let that go anyway? Because you say so?
