Nicely done, PassHolder (who also could be taken to task on countless occasions regarding "civility", by the way). Must be nice to feel holier than thou.

However, not for a moment did I pretend I had no idea why it happened. Certainly there was no huge discourse like this over it, no site owner who came on repeatedly to post about it. jonvn's gotten much more than a very fair shake here, by my experience. Whether you agree or not doesn't matter.

I Mr. Xs argument is one of consistency. And, I think that is probably a valid point. I've been asekd to moderate other websites and have politely declined. I think that job is probably one step above being a property manager. But, if I were a moderator I think I would have to be comfortable with the way I make decisions and the only way to do that would be to be consistent. So, whether it is a "one warning then you are out" or whatever...so be it. It is the basics of behavior psychology. Set a rule, set the punishment, establish the expectation and then follow through. I think Xs criticism that the rules don't appear to be being applied equally is a fair one. But, this isn't about what appears fair or what the participants want out of the site.

The owner can do whatever he wants. But then, why bother with a list of "community standards" at all, if they are really meaningless at the end of the day?

Originally Posted By Mr X ***but had you asked me to lay money on which LPer might be banned next Jon's name would have been one of the contenders!!!*** Interesting. I take it you don't like him much. If so, you've got a lot of company. HOWEVER, I could name 10 posters off the top of my head who've violated the standards of the community more than Jon. Easily. So, why does he strike you as "the next to be banned"? Because he's unpopular, I would say. As I wrote before, mob rules.
