There's no integrity in continuing to do so after being asked to curtail such activity. If X or jonvn wants free speech protection, they can start their own sites. One of them already has done just that.

Yes, I know LP is private. And on healthy discussion boards(be they private or public) posters need to breathe.

Good grief, how much more clearly can the man explain what is really a very simple concept?! I am absolutely dumbfounded at the continued protestations of mystery or misunderstanding here. Doobie, you have the patience of a saint. And I also respect the way you run your website.

So, I would argue that this was not exactly simple...particularly if you were a participant in it "real time" vs reading the posts two days later with benefit of the "explanations" that have been provided. All along I considered this "x" poster being "x" poster and when he was shown the door for what seemed like no different behavior than all along I was a bit surprised. So, while I have at several different times stated it was time to move on...I think it unfair to suggest those who have had feelings about it one way or other are so far removed from reality.

I really do ... I also believe that when you have discussion boards you're always going to have problems. If I ran a Disney site, or any other kind, I doubt I'd have boards. This country is highly polarized right now and I believe that trickles down to sites like this. For example, I readily equate the dumbing down of WDW and the justification of such behavior by 'fans' to be similar to people defending our WalMarted President or healthcare system or any other number of REAL problems. If you can justify sending uninsured people home from hospitals to die, how hard is it to defend a dirty, stale theme park product? And this 'it's his house and he can do what he wants' line is frankly a load of ... ah ... pooh plush. If you have 100 friends over for a party at your house, do you treat some with favoritism? Do you allow some to urinate in your jacuzzi while telling others they aren't allowed to use the bathroom? Do you let some walk in spouting obscenity while telling another that the Jesus fish on their mini-van offends you? Do you let some people upstairs, but make the rest stay down? Do some guests get paper and plastic while the others are served on fine china? Wahoo made a very valid point about the 'hits' on this site ... and how they do equate at some point with revenue. We may not be putting Doobie in an overpriced Stepford home in Celebration, but we're likely contributing to him not needing to head to the casting center to learn firsthand just how much Disney values its cast. I think when you start talking about an individual's writing/posting 'style' you're venturing into shark-filled waters. We all come from different backgrounds and some of us are more articulate than others. Some of us are more direct. Some of us may have to use communication in our daily jobs. Some of us may get our feelings hurt by what others post, even if the other poster is attacking their argument and not their worth as a human being. That's why IN MY OPINION if you're going to have forums for true debate and discussion you have to do one of two things: 1.) Let almost anything (other than personal info of posters) go; 2.) Have very strict guidelines that are administered across the board; I don't think the current ways are working and they're going to destroy a wonderful community of fans here ... too many good people and great contributers are just saying 'it's not worth it' and that's sad. And blowhard or not, not having Jon here is just another reason to not even bother reading, let alone posting. Spirit out ...

Thus my reasoning for never accepting an offer to be an Administrator.
