However, most Latin Am tourists hail from the upper middle class, and they are more likely than not to speak some english. I have also heard from friends in Mexico City that upper class Mexicans prefer WDW over DLR because at DLR they have to rub elbows with immigrants from Mexico's unwashed lower classes.

I'm not sure if this is a myth (it sounds like one), but stranger things have happened.

But I have to concede times change since when I was a CM trying to transfer into Guests Relations, I was told flat to my face by the white bread female manager that as much as I was qualified for the job, she would fear my "accent" would get in the way of guests' enjoyment, especially because the position would involve leading guide tours of the MK. Now a days? Some of the Guests Relation hosts and hostesses have very thick accents and do not even have the personality or body appearance for someone in such important position at the parks. Yet there they are. Furthermore... I suspect this is an initiative to please the local goverment since theyare the ones who insist on this bilinguality because they realize there is a rather sizeable hispanic population taking over Florida and they need their vote.

I didn't pick up on that. Especially since someone after you posted that "this is just one more thing for CM's to stress about." <<I suspect this is an initiative to please the local goverment since they are the ones who insist on this bilinguality because they realize there is a rather sizeable hispanic population taking over Florida and they need their vote.>> I don't know anything about Florida politics, and I wasn't able to open the link you provided. That was SO wrong of her! TDLFAN, your English is not at ALL difficult to understand, and your Spanish accent (which, I regret, I don't even notice any more when I talk to you) is absolutely charming. UGH! Their loss -- totally! Estupidos!
