If they do feel that the track needs to be replaced, I hope that they take a cue from Disneyland's and just replace the existing tracks with identical layouts. No loops. No launch. Keep it a family ride. I also hope that they keep both tracks. I like the 'mirror imaged' design of the rides.

Who want's over the shoulder restraints.... yuck. The thing that impressed me when I rode Disneyland Paris's space mountain was the design of the building, fx, lighting sound, and sense of fun of the ride, not the inversions. It would have been the same for me without them. What would be really cool is a longer ride with more surprises and fx, which wdw's could have in theory.

If they are too close, they could always expand the walls outward, but I'm not sure how that would affect the rest of the ride. They would probably need to restructure some of the track supports, but they don't use the same style supports today as they did when the ride was constructed, so I don't really see that as being a problem. I guess another problem would be especially on days with light crowds, since it would have a huge capacity, and it would seem like a waste (and possibly dangerous due to the weight differences) to have two tracks with extremely high capacity running at the same time.
