Or just go see the Main Street Electrical Parade again, it's one and the same, granted, it's the Electrical Parade Mark II, but it's still just an update of the same parade.

If you are impressed with SpectroMagic, you will be absolutely and totally blown away if you see TDL's Dreamlights!

Not necessarily. At least Spectro is a completly new parade, Dreamlights is just an updated version of MSEP.

This really was my one big complaint during my visit to TDL. I was really looking forward to this parade, and it just didn't do it for me.

LOL Tiggirl!! They were reffered to as "Electromen" when SpetroTragic was first introduced. Now they are just an eyesore.

    >>I also saw the shortened version of Fantillusions at DLP, though, and didn't like it much even viewing it for the first time.<<

Of course you didn't like DLP's Fantillusion! That's because DLP only got one freaking quarter of what Fantillusion was at TDL!! TDL's Fantillusion consisted of over 25 float units and preformer 3 different show modes in a 35 minute presentation that was like seeing a rolling 3 Act show. The way it is presented at DLP does not work and does not make sense without the glorious show modes and the way all the floats changed colors and used animated props that created the illusion of transformation. How much would I love to show you the TDL Fantillusion dvd so you can compare with DLP's puny, bad version.

    >>Not necessarily. At least Spectro is a completly new parade, Dreamlights is just an updated version of MSEP.<<

Excuse me but we all knew Dreamlights was intended to be a MSEP update from way back when... IF you were disaapointed by it, it's because you didn't do your homework like any deicated Disney fan would have. But regardless of Dreamlights being a MSEP update with some new scenes no found in the old MSEP, the fact remains the technology applied for Dreamlights has not been seen by American audiences in their legacy parks yet. That to me is the true hallmark of what a Disney parade should be like. Unlike the fiasco that LightTragic turned out to be..."DreamLights" delivers in vivid LED colors that sparkle unlike any other electrical parade ever has. That's a fact. Your point of view Irishguy in regards to "Dreamlights"' contents do not invalidate the fact that it is truly the most tecnically and technologically advanced parade Disney has ever done in their 50 years of theme parks, and only TDL has it.

So why don't we see reflections of this technology in our own US parks more quickly? You'd think that the cost of generating more displays from already developed technology would be fractional.

So the only logical answer is: they don't care to spend that much money for a new electrical parade... after all they probably figure how many trailer park guests would ever know what they are missing in Dreamlights or if they even know about parks existing in Asia...etc etc.

Hence the parade's full name "Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights." It's no secret that it's an updated MSEP - in fact, that's one if its best attributes. They took all of the things that made the MSEP great (lighted floats, lighted performers, wonderful song, etc) and updated it for Dreamlights, which debuted about 30 years after the original. So, this means floats using some of the newer Disney properties (including Pixar movies), vastly improved lighting technology, plus a more varied soundtrack that at the same time is still very much based on the original music. Plus, it's at least twice as long and has many more performers.

But there's also the labor cost of operating a parade on the scale of Dreamlights.

For Spectromagic I REALLY dislike the creepy looking big headed kids, aka the chuckie dolls OMG what the heck do they to do with Disney anyway? Get rid of them and the parade would be much improved. Also the music with Chip and Dale at the Grand Piano, bleachhhhhhhh! That couldn't possible be one of the best ideas for them in the parade! However I do like the lighting of the parade, going all white to multicolored, very nice.

But again, overall, MSEP with the Baroque Hoedown is just better!

So, when are you going to get over to Tokyo to see the "plussed" version? :) Seriously, as good as MSEP is, Dreamlights is at least 3x better.

Yup, very true, but I never see it called by it's official title here on the boards. When people just see Dreamlights, it sounds as if it's a completley new parade concept, which it's not.

    >>Excuse me but we all knew Dreamlights was intended to be a MSEP update from way back when...<<

I was under the impression that it was inspired by the MSEP, I did not expect literally a float by float remake.

So because it's the most technologically advanced parade in Disney history does that make it the best? Afraid not for me.

I've heard them called Spectromen. And yeah, they are a bit creepy!
