    I agree.

    I'm not alarmed because look at those numbers the other way around:

    25.5% say there's no need to be able to read a dictionary means that 74.5% probably said there was.

    25% say it's unnecessary to read a newspaper means that 75% said there was. (And as peeaanuut said, they may be reading 'newspapers' but online rather than print.)

    26% say there's no need to listen to radio means that 74% probably said there was.

    That's a big chunk of folks making the choice to tune out of the world and avoid news except about topics they are interested in, perhaps. I'm going to hope that as a good percentage of those folks mature they'll understand why being informed matters and will seek to do that, regardless of which medium they prefer.

    Of course you can always say the battery died or you left it in your car (you can even just leave the thing in your car ;D)

I abhor that I have to have a cell phone for my jobs (On-Call and telecommuting). We as humans survived forever without them.

    I read the newspaper during lunch, well skim it. I listen to the radio in the car once and awhile.

    Well, some of us are unfortunately *over*informed...and then we go to WE and wonder why we're gluttons for punishment, LOL.
