As it stands, if ToT, Muppets, and TSMM were not at the park, I would not darken the turnstiles of the place. BTW, I have missed your posts in the magical place Spirit. << I so agree with you. It's still a beautiful park, but to coin Spirits thread on the MK "it has lost it's soul" Welcome to LP. I hope you enjoy yourself here. Spirit is such a different person over here. He's so warm, and cuddly, and not nearly as opinionated. He's the Mr. Rogers of LP!.

But that's how I feel about all of WDW's parks except for DAK. They are all creatively adrift, stale and they don't know what they want to be or, more importantly, what they're supposed to be. Someone needs to chart a course and I don't see it ... <<As it stands, if ToT, Muppets, and TSMM were not at the park, I would not darken the turnstiles of the place. >> For me, it's ToT and Brown Derby. I can do the other two at DCA (one with a single-rider line so there's no ridiculous waits). <<BTW, I have missed your posts in the magical place Spirit.>> Thanks for the sentiment and welcome to the BEST Disney site online! I popped up on MAGIC today (off most of the week and did the beach yesterday, maybe should have gone back today?) ... and chaos ensued. They really seem to not comprehend basic concepts over there ... not everyone certainly, but a a large minority. I feel like I'm trying to train a dog to use a toilet.

Yes, I noticed you popping up. I don't understand why people feel the need to defend Disney at every turn. They do some things right, but not always...and especially right now. I try to stay out of all the jiber jaber with a certain jt guy and his sympathizers.

I do know that Disney, a decade too late, has opted to attempt to co-opt the online community. Call it the Al Lutz Effect. So now any housewife, fanboi in Mom's basement, or spending five days a week in Disney parks while picking up government disability checks dude types with online blogs wind up being equated with real media. I find that scary. I commented earlier that the info on Mermaid was posted on Theme Park Insider ... then I looked at a major USA Today story on summer in the theme parks and Robert Niles (the dude behind the site) was quoted. These bloggers now become interchangable with REAL media in the eyes of the public when they have no such experience ... they're also much more likely to fall victim to the pixie dust puked forth by Disney Social Media. Rest assured, it won't be on the latest cutbacks.

It makes me nervous when something goes down in one of the parks, and the official media will go right to Al for an "inside" quote. It kind of inflates the opinions of just a few uber-fans to news status, which just doesn't seem to be deserved.

He may have an agenda, but he knows what he is talking about and has deep sources at Disney. Al is also not going to get all wet and excited because Disney invites him to a party or let's him speak to an Imagineer. What is scary is that Disney can much more easily co-opt Internet 'media' vs. someone who writes for the NY Times, Miami Herald, Variety, Newsweek etc ... And they love the free coverage they are getting as well and who wouldn't? No real media is going to cover timeshare openings or street party debuts and things like that ... but 'social media' will.
