It's as if the writers sat around trying to figure out how to make him Kirk, and what they came up with was skirt chasing. And not original Kirk successful skirt chasing. But creapy guy skirt chasing that couldn't walk past a female without checking her out. It's sad that no one since the mid 60s has been able to write Kirk as anything but a joke. I kept expecting him to say "Heh, how you doin'?" ala Joey. I'd love for someone to write a great Kirk story. Because he's not just a horny fat guy with a ... weird ... speak ... ing ... style.

Overall, the movie was skewed too much towards action. But now that the producers have gotten the reintroductions out of the way, in the next movie they can hopefully focus less on the eye-candy and more on crafting a more compelling story and dive deeper into the relationships between Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest of the crew.

Beaming him down in his street cloths on an ice planet would have been closer to murder. Spock was not trying to kill him. Personally I really enjoyed the movie. Yes, it has many plot flaws but it was "fun".

Since it's dealing with time travel, the writers could have included some brief exposition explaining that Spock knew Kirk would be there and he was waiting for him. But to have it be a coincidence that they meet up there and that they meet up with Scotty? Wow, that's asking me to suspend A LOT of disbelief. And of course, I can suspend that and believe in different things in the context of the movie.

This and how Kirk was just made Captain at the end when the kid havent even graduated from Starfleet academy yet. C'mon, its a little TOO far fetched!!

Number one, Spock didnt plan to go back to the past, he was simply sucked in. Hell, he didnt know what time period he landed in until he got there. And two, he clearly states he was dumped there by Nero, so its not like he planned to be there himself. Both of them coincidently got dumped on the same planet and he looked really surprised to me to see Kirk standing in front of him. And three, since Nero's very pressence changed everything in that time period and Spock followed right behind him in the black hole, Spock would be just as clueless about what was happening and the wherabouts of Kirk since the chain of events of how they first met was obviously changed in this timeline. How that scene was written, there is so much wrong with how they got together, but I personnally think it wouldnt seem SO random if they at least met at the starfleet outpost. At least it wouldve been a focal point of both meeting up somewhere more logical, then say, a cave, and explain how they both ended up being at the same place. They both go there for shelter after both being unceremoniously dumped there, that would make SOME sense!! But the whole meetinging-in-a-random cave bit on a desolate ice planet is ridiculous from an otherwise good movie.
