    Whoa. Back up there, bucko.

Your dad was in the Drifters? The "Under the Boardwalk" Drifters?

I'm assuming he wasn't black, so was he in their show band in a later incarnation? Whatever, that's pretty cool.

I ate there about a year ago. It didn't seem too overpriced (considering the other options at City Walk, that is), but the weird art really did catch me off guard. There were a couple things that were pretty good, but a lot of it was that general bohemian cool-because-it's-artsy stuff that I just don't like much. The service was alright, but they kept bringing things out at different times, which kind of works for the tapas idea, but not so much when you just want your food. And they forgot my order completely. It was an interesting idea, but I can see why it was empty when every other place that night was packed to the gills.

Johnny Rockets probably won't happen since there's one already open over at the Garden Walk.

Yep, he was in the band. The singers - Johnny Moore, Ben E King et al were black, and for contrast, the band were white british. He was with them for 7 years. It is how we ended up living in the UK, they don't give a lot of green cards to musicians.

Plus in the evening they have Elvis imersonators and the like with a hand jive show on the counter.

However, it was not cheap - Hamburger, fries and coke - $25! It was tasty though.

If the purposeful altering of real unemployment figures was actually conceived and accomplished by direct instruction over the last 8 years of the Bush Administration, will Obama's team now make the corrections and begin publishing the "true" higher figures? Or is it believed that Obama will just resign himself to using the cooked up number formulas that Bush created?

And did all 50 states get in on this act too, agreeing to revise their figures to the Bush formula? Or is this a case of Washington taking the states figures and tweaking them after the fact? But if the states weren't all in on it, again with no notice by the local or national media, wouldn't that have impacted the money they receive from the Feds for welfare programs and unemployment benefits? What would a state like Ohio or Michigan, with a high unemployment rate, gain from playing along? Versus a state with a very low unemployment rate like Massachusetts, traditionally very Democratic, that would benefit politically from embarassing the Bush Administration over the last 8 years?

I'm just trying to make sense of the assertion that Bush and the DC machine have been manipulating unemployment figures beyond use for the past 8 years.

It it's true, what will Obama do about it?
