    LOL!

I have no idea about the disabled part, but out of curiosity after the bulletproof vest thing came up I asked several people currently or formerly in the military, from as long ago as my Dad to as recently as one of my friends' kids, if they could ever see one of those vests leaving the military legally. To a person, they said no.

And don't give me any crap about having a specific skill set for your job that a state as large as Florida couldn't possibly find amongst any of their citizens during a huge economic downturn. Sorry, but I know better. My sister has worked in I.T. for the state of California for over a decade. She's one of the lucky ones who still has a job. I know firsthand how badly the industry has been hit recently. All this talk about 'tech worker shortage' is BS. What the private sector businesses actually mean by this claim, is there's a shortage of workers who will gladly do it for the slave wages they're only willing to offer. It's all a ruse to gin up the demand for elected officials to raise the H-1B visa cap.

Tens of thousands of I.T. professionals across the country have lost their jobs over the last several years, mostly because of outsourcing and government downsizing due to budget problems. And hundreds of those displayed workers -- many of whom have your experience level if not higher -- would have readily jumped at the chance to have a well-paid government job with superior health care and benefits, even if it meant moving to the Orlando area from the other side of the country.

I don't quite understand how you were able to land the job as quickly as you did, unless some strings were pulled. There were obviously more qualified professionals who could have taken the job, including those with college degrees, desperate to take any job during an economic downturn. If the job had actually been advertised, then you would have had competition, Donny. So either someone pulled strings from the inside, or you gamed the system by being a veteran and was given priority because of that status. Or perhaps the job was never advertised on the outside and you knew someone inside the state government who recommended you for the job. In any event, you didn't fairly compete for your job. Somehow, someway, you got this job handed to you on a silver platter through connections.

And quit lying about the bulletproof vest. It wasn't given to you, at least not officially. You basically stole the vest, Donny. And now you're lying about it. Why should any of us ever trust anything you ever say again?

I trust Harry Reid a hundred times more than I'll ever trust you or Donny.

Last time I checked, Harry was still a Mormon.

    So Happy Holidays and STFU.

That was kind of pathetic of him. Maybe next time his mommy can come here and tell us what a great guy he is.

My daughter and I both got perfect scores and we were later called back. I turned down the position but my daughter accepted it. She later told me that a sizable number are census takers hired were indeed veterans or their spouses, definitely out of proportion to their numbers in the general population.

I believe that this sort of favoritism applies to all forms of federal hiring.

Gimme a break. I asked four current or former military guys personally, and they all said "no way." Several people here, either vets themselves or spouses, said the same thing.

And by the way - one of my sources was a friend of 20 years who happens to be a Mormon.

It is a national epidemic that requires a national response in my opinion. As is proven in Chicago, banning a weapon in one City doesn't seem to have much of an effect.
