Yes it can get old when 50 people chime in some repeating what others have said positive or negative, but that's the nature of it being a discussion board.

I personally would hate for another LP'er to have the same negative experience as me if I could have prevented it.

So just as people talk about their good experiences, others will discuss there negative.

Desert Inn was a good neighor hotel for years. There must have been an incredible number of complaints to Disney for them to lose that designation. I can't imagine a hotel in that location *not* being a good neighbor. That they are not is very telling.

Thanks for clarifying you meant it lightheartedly....I did wonder.....

I travel alot for Business and stay at what I consider to be 2.5 stars Holiday Inns up to 5 stars Sofitels....My experience with Desert Inn was bad, if I could talk one person out of staying there I'd be happy :)

That said, I am aware that many people here like it. I reread my post and I certainly did not mean to sound like others did not have high standards of clean.....I shouldn't have used the word clean.....

Sometimes posting in haste just before dinner is not a good idea....;)

My traveling companion has very high standards of what is "clean", so this advice is very helpful. I would hate for her to have to run to the store to buy some Pine-Sol and Bleach while on vacation. : )

My mom has been known to do that:)- however she found our room at D.I. to be clean. I think it sounds like cleanliness may be a gamble over there which is why I chickened out of staying there again:).

Its unfortunate that there have been a couple of bad incidences involving LPers who no doubt were victimized by very poor customer service.I would not let that stop you from staying here if your budget is tempting you to do so.

There are ways to protect yourself from being mischarged. Always use the same credit card to reserve the room as when you check in/out. If you are splitting a room/suite with friends/family then work it out between yourselves. Whoever pays the bill should collect 1/2 back from the other. The fewer credit card #'s floating around the better. The more complicated you make the transaction the more vulnerable you become. I also would not recommend using debit cards at all since mistakes can wipe out your checking acct.

It seems like when the bill is asked to be split they might mess it up. Did I read the (linked) thread incorrectly? I read it to say that one LPer got charged for everything when some of it was supposed to go on another LPers card. Was that the case? That original thread is kind of hard to follow, do correct me.

I do remember that the first incident reported on LP was someone trying to split the cost of a suite with another paying party which got messed up. Also they were trying to use a debit card then a credit card and both ended up charged.

I am not trying to offend anyone or change the minds of those who dont like this place, but trying to provide tips for others to avoid the same problems.

When I talked to Anaheim PD and their fraud department was quite interested, the rooms are unclean and the staff was the worst I've ever encountered, that's 3 Strikes. Those are hotel felonies in my book, and CA is a 3-strike state.

They were both credit card, one of them was mine and we don't have visa/mastercard debit cards in Canada.....

It was a regular visa card.
Charged after I repeatly told them the bill was being split in two, kust twice no more and I was told there would be no problem with that.

I've been sharing information and advising on hotels on these boards for over 6 years, so I've stayed at most of them in the area.

There aren't very many on my blacklist, but this is definitely one of them. Another is owned by the same person. That stay was the worst I've ever encountered in a hotel anywhere!
