When you look at floor plans for the area, the wall of the men's locker room exactly follows the curvature of the submarine lagoon. So the two were very close to each other. Leakage seems evident.

Also -- since the attraction was closed they physically removed the entire roof of the submarine show building, AND the entire concrete floor of the structure. (Thought two of the building's sidewalls remain)

If it weren't structural water leakage problems, then why would they spend ANY money removing a roof and a concrete floor? It couldn't have been cheap to do that.

You might be right about some of the ride's effects. But not all. And the atmospherics of the sub ride were no small thing. They were on another plane.

I used to love to be on the skyway and look down on the lagoon and imagine diving off into it to take on the friggin' squid all by my lonesome...but I was a wuss and never did it.

I wouldn't mind as much if they would have put SOMETHING other than a playground there. I mean, if kids want to play on a playground, you take them to Toontown/Mickey's Fair and let them play there. It's out of the way, and a good place to do that.

Fantasyland is NOT a good place to do that, because you already have a Pooh ride...why have two attractions in the same land nearly right across from each other? It's poor park planning.

I would take, either or both. I meant it in an all inclusive way.

I remember the first time I went on that ride as there was a thunder and lightning storm in the distance and the idea of being in that tropical setting with such spectacular surroundings to board this fantastical creation (really, Disney's Nautilus subs were the best ever adapation of a concept found in a novel) was a great experience.

Yes, the ride was a bit cheezy but isn't that sometimes what WDW or Disneyland is all about?

So now DL is getting "Nemo" (the cartoon not the Verne character) and WDW gets who knows what?

I would agree with those that say that removing the 20K Leagues lagoon would open up a whole new area in the back of the park - wouldn't that be a great place to build a Florida version of the volcano from DisneySea with the JTTCOTE and 20K Leagues rides? Now that would be a great addition to WDW's MK park!

When I went back to WDW two years ago for the first time since 1993, when both those attractions were still up and runnig, the hardest part was walking through that area and seeing both of those rides gone.

I envy DL that they're getting a sub ride back and once it's up and running, that's when I'll start trying to plan my first ever trip out there.
