Only at a great distance could one make out the tune.

We had a huge park across a pretty big intersection that had a cool pond with crawdad in it. We'd get sticks and flys and go crawdad fishing - our City version of fly fishing. We take'em home and boil some for us and some for Herman the duck. We used to have family softball games/picnics there on Saturdays. One time my aunt told us kids to stay out of the water no matter what. My little cousin Monica was only about 3 and stepped into the water. Pretty soon there were bubbles and arms waving. My aunt came running over and started yelling at us. Why didn't you go in and get her, she could have drowned, on and on she went. Seven cousins all just stood there, being the eldest I had to speak up... Tia, you said don't go in the water NO MATTER WHAT. Then we all took off running. LMAO!

And then I was thinking, wait, there's a song like that that I love. Now I'll go google a few of the lyrics. LOL (Not that anyone asked!) ---------- Ha! Found it. Perfect! ---------- If heaven was an hour, it would be twilight When the fireflies start their dancin' on the lawn And supper's on the stove and mamma's laughin' And everybody's workin' day is done If heaven was a town it would be my town On a summer day in 1985 And everything I wanted was out there waiting And everyone I loved was still alive I'm sorry I always share my sappiness here. I am so sentimental!

The first time I heard that song, I bawled when I heard that line about 1985! 1985 was my junior year in high school, and the last year that all of my loved ones were alive. In 1986, I lost my favorite uncle (like a dad) to cancer, and then lost my aunt, cousin, sister, mom and dad in the years following that. Okay, back on track (and a little lighter, sheesh!!!) -- I too grew up hearing the boom of the Disneyland fireworks on summer nights! LOVED THAT!
