A full laundry day is ESSENTIAL the day before ANY travel, either departing or returning.

Anything else is uncivilized and gross.

So, when on vacation and staying in hotels (as opposed to at a friend or relative's house), you're supposed to pay to have all of your dirty clothes laundered just before you go home, just so you don't have dirty clothes in your luggage? Or, take a few hours out of your day to do it yourself at a self-service laundry? That doesn't seem very frugal when you can much easily and for free do your laundry when you get home.

Even if this is true, then let me modify my advice: wash out the inside of your popcorn buckets in the sink with soap, dry, then stuff your CLEAN clothes into them before packing.

It's frugal if you bring along a pack of detergent at home, hand wash the clothing in the hotel sink, and hang it to dry in the shower or by the window.

Right before you make the beds and clean the room before the maid sees it.

    *sigh*

    Good advice. :D
