I suspect there are far more visitors to WDW from Canada and the UK than from Oz.

I think the bigger question is will the Million Dreams promotion be effective at driving attendance at the parks, especially as compared to last year?

All the more reason to let us enter the mail-in sweepstakes ... although I've actually been surprised by how many Australians I've encountered at the parks! We do tend to go more to Disneyland than WDW, though.

    My point, exactly, Danny.

And no one is going to convince me with WDW visitors so diverse, and a contest that allows CMs to choose up to three times for major prizes, that the Mouse wants a lonely, single, fat dude from ... Texas or Minnesota or N.J. to win. Just not gonna happen.

I'm not sure how many "lonely" fellows visit WDW on their own.

That said I saw how the major prizes were determined last week and I honestly can't see how there can be any abuse. The exact seat was chosen the night before. The only way they could tweak the system would be during the load of the attraction itself.

I very much doubt that now that the promotion is underway properly that WDW would try and fix any of the prizes. There is no incentive to do so. Even the minor prizes like the Mickey ears, lanyards and FPs seem to have been given to a diverse group.

A good question. I know that when they were giving away Hondas at DL during Oct 2005 that the parks were busier than normal. Of course, that could have been for many other factors (the 50th, new Space Mtn, etc.).

We were at DLR last Oct, and also saw plenty of ears and fast passes. We even won the ears.

TDLFAN, please stop acting like such a big jerk!

I can tell that you're hatred towards WDW is feuled by the fact that maybe they fired you and that you're still holding a MAJOR grudge against them.

WDW is not bribing anybody and they are not being discriminatory, TDLFAN! YOU are being discriminatory with the things you say ("Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in Fantasyland", etc.) and I hope that the Admins delete it ASAP.

Actually no, I was not fired from Disney or any job. I quit on my own because the money was not that great and I wanted to travel the World while being paid. If there is only one reason I woould hold against Disney is that when I was a CM there, I did my very best job to uphold the Disney name highly and offer our guests the very best show possible on stage in the performance of my duties. Today, as a *paying* guest, I don't feel I recieve the same kind of excellent service from some of the cast. Mercifully the majority of them remain quite professional and worthy, while maganement continues to shortchange their great work by understaffing the parks and placing some emphasis on things that are important to me as a guest, such as cleanliness and maintenance... not to mention state of the art entertainment, which most of the MK for example hardly is.

I think part of it is a "shoot the messenger" mentality. It's almost as if these people think the problems that TDLFAN talks about (which for the most part are completely genuine) will somehow disappear if we all collectively decide to not talk about them.

But it does go a bit past this. There's a contingent here (and a separate but similar contingent on the DCA board) that just doesn't seem to be able to cope with people criticizing the parks. This is a discussion board - we talk about the good and the bad.

I appreciate the spirit in which this was intended. But you can't possibly think that very many people at all enjoyed that birthday cake, especially the vast majority of the online community. At least the current promotion gives a little something to a few folks. Maybe not everybody gets a gift, but then Disney has never done a promotion where everybody got a gift.
