If either of those two end up winning, I could see that the others might feel like the deck was stacked in their favor.

A torn bicep takes at least 6 weeks to heal if you are having supervised medical treatment and physio, so he could not continue to be a valuable member of the team with that type of injury! I picked up that he voted Margaret as well M2, after she had been so caring looking after everyone that was sick seemed a bit strange to me!

I'm glad I was wrong, because this could turn into an extrememly interesting season. I finally got around to watching my tape last night as my husband and I had a dinner date with a friend the night before. She's not big on Survivor as a prior job for her was as an outfitter for hard-core wilderness treks and doesn't like the fact that people have turned an amazing, team-work situation into cut-throat competition. We told here we generally watch it as an exercise in sociolgy and have always been interested by the human interaction and reaction to the situations. Oh man, is the location gorgeous! I'm still amazed that the Guatemalen government is allowing the castaways to live in and among the ruins! First they have a hike to the starting point where they're introduced to Step and Bobby John Joe Jim-Bob, who along with being on the losingest team ever in Surivivor, are pretty hard-working and strong. So, once they catch their breath, they're told they have an 11.5 mile hike through the jungle (full of snakes, spiders, scorpions, howler monkeys, jaguars, and nasty foliage) to the primo camp. First team there gets the campsite and a flint for fire. Now, I was and wasn't surprised it took them until the next morning to reach the camp. What with Yaxha (sp) getting lost and Nukum (sp) having poblems with nasty foliage and men getting sick, it amazed me that the finish was as close as it was. Nukum (sp) really needed the ready-made shelter as four, count 'em four of the MEN on that tribe were suffering greatly from dehydration including Bobby John Joe Jim-Bob. They were also very lucky to have Margaret the Nurse-Practitioner on their team, she can adminster some basic first aid and keep the team fairly healthy. I don't remember the name of the guy who got hit by the tree limb, but by the end of the episode, I started wondering if the plant may have been toxic. Yaxha got the lesser of the two camps, but really stepped up to the plate and got their shelter happening right away. They have potential to go far, though Steph was not happy about losing the first challenge. For lack of his name rihgt now, I think the Red-Headed-Woddy-Allen look-alike will become a pain in the behind as he was the biggest whiner in the bunch. Immunity challenge: Nukum was able to field a full tribe and the stakes were higher for Yaxha as they were also playing for flint. Another grueling challenge as they had to paddle out to retreive a torch, then using ancient moving techniques (rolling logs and muscle) haul their boat to a cauldron where a team member would light a torch to signal the victory. It was a close race and Yaxha pulled out the win. Meanwhile, Senior Joe on Nukum pulled a bicep muscle because he started to hoist the boat onto the logs before everyone else. Now, popped muscles take a very long time to heal and really need to be babied, well beyond Margaret's skill-level based on location and supplies. So, he's a difinite liability as were the other sickest men, the guy who got hit by the tree and Bobby-John. In the end, Senior Jim, while a pretty strong competitor was voted off because of his pretty severe wound. I think his vote for Margaret was based on the fact that she may prove to be an extremely powerful tribe member due to her skill-set as a Nurse. He was playing the game early. There, Dave, ya happy now?

Given, margaret is a nurse-practicioner and all so is pretty well-trained, BUT it just seems odd to me that tree boy would be puking due to anxiety for as long as he was without ahving gotten some type of tree poison in him when the thorns went in.
Originally Posted By velo still, they never showed whether it was inflamed, swollen or whatever. I was wondering too. I also worried about the dehydration thing. Scariest thing I've seen in all the episodes, I think. (besides the australian burning incident).
Originally Posted By WorldDisney Yeah Velo, I thought the same thing. But I'm pretty sure that, off-camera, they had people look in on them to see if it's really serious or not. The Apprentice starts next week!!!! YAAAY!!! My pathetic, dateless self of just sitting at home Friday nights just got less pathetic with these shows back on.....or is it MORE pathetic? I honestly can't tell .

I'm sure if Disney offered enough money, there will be a park there also with the big ruin hollowed out and serving as a cool sit down restaurant .
