Frying pans, pots, utensils, metate, steamer were all back under lock and key - kind of sad. ;< We had saved the various breads from our left overs for one final feeding to the Gulls. Wendebird was out on the deck with seagulls lined up side by side on the ledge. She was lobbing them pices of bread like you would with a pet dog. All of a sudden Fred swooped in and tried to land in one of the Adirondeck chairs. Well, he slipped and got his web foot caught in the slats. He went nuts. Wendy had the fortitude to tip the chair on its side so the gull could lay down. Wendebird and goodgirl tried to loose it's webbing from the chair to no avail. Fred proceeded to "let loose" and baptize goodgirl with yesterday's tamale I fed him. Poor goodgirl she was a mess. He was actually flapping his wings in his own deposit, it was going everywhere. We called the property owner and she told us they'd have Fish and Game out there immediately. In the meantime, we stayed quiet and left poor Fred alone to calm him down. About 5 minutes before the property manager showed up Fred got loose. He was wobbly but he was able to fly. He flew out to the middle of the beach and had a bit of a rolling tumble of a land. Fish and Game would eventually four wheel out to him, take him back to their animal shelter. They told us they would nurse him and then release him back. We were so relieved he'd be ok. We departed our little gem of a house at around 8:40am. We had an uneventful drive home. Dropped Wendebird at her home in Redding at 4pm. Pulled into SuzieQ's at 7pm, I pulled up to my house in Livermore at 8:05pm. A great vacation with awesome friends. ;>

Lisann22 then gets out her mini tractor and loads it into the steamer. quincytoo made tamale biscuits. Cute little 2"x2" squares for tea time at the Empress Hotel. How coincidental that she hates olives and her little masterpieces kept missing them. SuzieQ eggrolls. I think SuzieQ might have flunked cultural cuisine cooking in high school. I guess she figured if it had pork, you must roll it. And then there was Wendebird, my kindered spirit searching for a world of balance and evenness. Lots of heavy sighing and stress beads of perspiration coming from her side of the table. Wendy was out to make the "perfect" tamale. Just the right amount of masa, pork and olives. Problem is Wendebird couldn't figure out the rough side from the "chiney" side of the cornhusk.<< OMG, LMAO, it's SOOOOO funny, because it's SOOOO true!! Thanks for the awesome trip report. They way you word it makes it seem like we did a a ton of stuff!
