I always wonder how well the RF does in the AK location. Does anybody know? I predict TRex will be popular for families with children in the DD location.

great - that will keep them out of Raglan's next door - which I found to be really really quality this past August.

That's shocking really, but consider yourself lucky.

She is one crazy woman who is on CNN and acts like she is judge, jury and executioner.

She also has a face that reminds of the classic Twilight Zone episode where everyone has a pig face except for the woman in the hospital. Except Nancy wouldn't be the woman!

<<I don't know that many TV people. How about we fight over the acting skills of David Caruso?>>

He was OK in his one year on NYPD Blue ... I don't watch CSI: Miami (because I know when they are filming at the golf course behind the Manhattan Beach Marriott and claiming it is SoFla and it drives me crazy), so I have no idea how he is on that show.

<<No, wait. That would mean that you'd have to take the position that he HAS acting skills. And I couldn't ask that of you.>>

    Sorry, no position at all.

    <<Ummm... Jay versus Dave?

No. I could argue either side of that one. Never mind.>>

I could too. How about Craig vs. Conan? I've met them both, so that factors in, but I have STRONG feelings on this one.

    <<Okay, okay.

Tell me that you hated "Murder, She Wrote," and then it's Game On.>>

I didn't watch it regularly. I am not an old fart like you ... did you also watch Matlock?

But I could never say anything bad about Mrs. Potts. Very talented, classy old broad.

<<Otherwise... I think TDLFAN is going to have to get his jollies somewhere else, and we may have to return this thread to its original (Disney-related) topic!>>

    I dunno.

What is there to talk about this T-Rex thing? Do you know one spirit who is excited about it opening? Or one that hates the idea? I'm totally ambivalent. I doubt I'll ever dine there. It is replacing a parking lot (but hey, some folks prefer asphault over say ... I dunno ... theme parks). I'll just say I hope it's better than what I expect it to be.

VERY good. But not as good as the DD locale, which is No. 1 in the chain (or was when I was told a few years ago) along with the Vegas location.

Basically, it's the tourist destinations that saved the chain. It made a HUGE mistake and expanded rapidly in the 1990s ... I know we had a few in SoFla (only one now).

I'm sure they're very profitable for Landry's now that they only have about 20 instead of double or triple that at one time (kind of like what Planet Hollywood did ... we had locations in Fort Lauderdale, Coconut Grove and Key West and they all closed within 3-4 years of opening).

But if they had to compete in the real world, they would never make it.

When I hear of two hour waits at the DD one when you can get a great meal across the walkway at Captain Jack's ... or Raglan Road or Fulton's ... I just don't understand it.

I've heard lots of bad things about RC, so I have no intention of eating there. Also, I think it's kind of cheesy to bring a chain restaurant into Disney. For a long time I thought RC was unique to WDW, until I visited a friend in Kansas City a few years ago. We walked in the mall and there was an RC. It's not exactly magical when it's sitting in the mall.

Have you seen the AAs they installed inside World of Disney, when they added the Pirate/Princess rooms and the BBB?

    Yup.

    No, it isn't.

And I walked by my 'local' RC in my mall today.

The one in the Princess room is just creepy. It looks like something out of a horror movie.

Here's the scoop: I am an ex-Floridian and ex-FL WDW Annual Passport holder - like most APer's I could write a book on WDW. But a few years ago I moved to the mid-west and get to KC quite often.

The T-Rex cafe is located at the Village West complex at the KC Speedway. (BTW, this is a WELL DONE idea. Build a racetrack and develop the area around it - makes for an awesome shopping and entertainment district!)

I went to T-Rex when it first opened. The KC area also has a Rainforest Cafe which, when I need a quick WDW-ish fix, the RC will do with a nice dinner.

Overall impressions: Underwhelming. The biggest problem T-Rex is going to have, if it turns into a chain, oddly enough is RC.

RC was cool because it was a novelty. But with T-Rex, you'll immediately want to compare to RC. And I like RC better.

T-Rex is just like an RC, but instead of a single theme, it has about 4 areas (one with rocks & lava, one prehistoric jungles, one ice-age? etc). And they are all so small the theming gets lost. It does not work for me. A mish-mash held together with a dino theme.

The food? I like RC's better, but that's just MHO. And the animantronic dinos? Don't expect AK's Dinosaur. More like Ellen's Energy Adventure.

Will I go back? Sure, its cool for my kids, and for the midwest, it's a far better and faster option than flying to O-Town or Vegas. But will it knock everyone's socks off at DTD? Unlikely.

Like Spirit of 74 said.. "geared for the stroller brigade". That's all that matters to the powers in charge.

we still have 4 in the Chicago area - quite frankly I don't how any but the Woodfield Mall location survive.
