The XR4Ti was equipped with Ford's US designed 4 cylinder turbocharged engine (some Mustangs and Thunderbrids were also sold with the engine). This was done sine this engine was already EPA certified, unlike the much superior Cosworth engine that was offered as an option in Europe. Eventually the Sierra was replaced by the Ford Mondeo (AKA the Ford Contour in the USA).

The white one, the first one we got, began to get a little finicky then a lot finicky and decided more than once to leave me stranded. Usually in the most inconvenient times and places. Then we came across the red one. It worked fairly well for a while, then the electrics started to go, then a few other minor things and soon the little things added up and we found ourselves using the white car to support the red one. Finding parts for these cars is challenging at best. Eventually we decided that they were both more project than we had time or money for at the moment and we really needed something we could rely on. Our neighbour across the street bought them both from us and we keep waiting to see what he does with them. So far they are still sitting in his yard. I really hope he doesn't just let them sit until they really are not worth saving.
