I find it really appalling that October day-guests end their time at the Park with the sight of workers tacking up decor that will be enjoyed only by those who have paid to see it. On the other hand... Disco-lit Main Street is more than a bit theme-breaking. If I were someone who'd saved and saved money and finally got to visit WDW one October, I would want to have the experience of seeing the classic "white lights at night" Main Street. Similarly, I'd want to ride the REAL Haunted Mansion, not the Skellington version. The extra Castle show would be a cool bonus, and it's fine if the fireworks change seasonally. But messing with the classics... Hmmmmm. I think that there is a legitimate argument to be made that WDW is doing its visitors a favor by NOT making every night a MNSSHP night. (And, yes, I understand that HMH is not specifically a part of MNSSHP.)

I do happen to know another person from CT who would prefer to visit TDL during a non-event time as well, which to me would be like visiting the MK during any bland day, as opposed to visiting on a day of exceptional and unique experiences... But hey. I respect that point of view as much as I respect those who want to use cellphones in American waterfront's queue. It's everyone's prerrogative. Lucky for me, I have seen the parks bared and dressed up and I love them anyways.

When I was leaving TDS, I did notice that the CM in the gift shop outside of the gates (in part of the Mira Coasta building, but opening toward the area where people line up to get in the park and it had no through access to the rest of the building) was just standing behind her counter waving her arm as much as possible. I thought this was very very magical, because unlike the forced waving on the way out (like the people from around the World Showcase at Epcot with the Mickey gloves after Illuminations...ick) it seemed like she really meant that she would miss having us there. Sure, I bet she does the same thing every night, for hours on end, but it seemed to be very very personalized just because of how unassuming it was. (And that she was swinging her entire arm-from the shoulder-which most people can't/won't do for very long intervals of time)
