You had me until the very end.

I haven't experienced TDL's version. But DLP is far and away the best version of the attraction I have seen yet.

I may (or may not) enjoy seeing a Fort Lauderdale High School dropout in AA-form, but I sincerely doubt that even if I enjoy all the changes they will someone surpass a version that is over twice as long and is modernized in all ways.

But you did have me until the last sentence.

That's the problem, even children know better than that.

And my name is TDLFAN, not "original poster". Get that right the next time.

I must admit I've never enjoyed the sequence ordering in DLP's version. There is no doubt that it has the best exterior and queue but I just feels so disjointed to me. Floating through the fort also feels just plain weird. It still ranks above MK's and TDL's for me though.

I wouldn't agree with that. It is still the bare bones of the original and is too similar to the MK version (like so many attractions in the park) for my liking.

I agree with this. I had trouble getting the "flow". My biggest complaint about the DLP version, though, was that boats were backed up soooo far into the attraction that you already felt like it was time to get off when there was still a good chunk of the ride left. This may not be typical, but it did negatively affect my experience.

That said, I did enjoy the ride as a whole.

Yes, you have mentioned this several times already Lee. Personally it doesn't bother me at all... I see this way: We start off years ago thru a moonlit fortress city. Witness the Pirates overtake the town... Then in a flash.. we fast forward to the present where all that's left is a reminder of their adventures.. Hidden treasures and skelletons. Why is that logic so hard to follow? Personally I feel going thru the swampy atmosphere of New Orleans into a cave of treasures where dead Pirate skelletons are everywhere, then suddenly being in the midts of a battle in some caribean town's lagoon is more disjointed to me, but even that has never bothered me.

This is how standing AA figures 'stand' but you normally don't see the post sticking out of the figure's foot.

    A semi bad show issue...

Captain Jack Sparrow went to Fort Lauderdale High School?

And where did Captain Barbarossa go? University of Central Florida?

The figures of Jack Sparrow are breath-taking in their fluid movements--which make you wonder if Johnny Depp could actually be inside the attraction performing 'live'.

ORWEN: The only real disappointment for us was the last scene, which--as some little duckling already pointed out--seemed out of place. Plus it's so dark you can hardly see much of it. It needs better lighting.

ORDDU: I used to love looking at the handsom soldier who had been tied up in a chair inside the former treasure room. I wonder what they're going to do with that figure now??? Surely--in they no longer need it--they could donate it to a certain witch in Morva? I'd be more than glad to finally untie him!!!!

Don't be so sure. I have a distinct memory from my early childhood of not knowing if the DL POTC fire was real. I remember being surprised when my parents told me it was fake, and not understanding at the time how they did it. This memory has stuck with me for some reason over the years.

It's hard for me as an adult to look at it from a point of view of not being able to tell whether or not it's real fire (let alone not seeing what is now obviously the technique used). Although POTC is not primarily a children's attraction, this experience is one reason why I think that people that can produce succesful children's media have a special talent, being able to see things from a child's perspective. It's not just a matter of making dialog simple - all sorts of things get interpreted differently due to lack of general and life experience. But I digress.

To me, it's like looking at a wonderful artistic set piece. Sure, you know the fire isn't real, but that's part of the magic isn't it?

We know the Animatronics aren't real too, but we accept some of the limitations in their movements and 'go with it.'

That would be awesome if they did, but the logistics are against it I'd suppose. For one... heat. How much heat do you get in a sustained fire sequence. Notice that all other times we have had real fire indoors in shows or rides, it consists mostly of a burst (ball) of fire that last for a few second. The only show where I have seen fire lasta good while is Twister and Backdraft at Universal, and notice how sprinklers are constantly going during the entire time the flames are burning. I honestly believe having real fire in the POTC ride would be way too costly for Disney to maintain.... and you know they are even having a hard time keeping the steaming effect on EE in working order...
