It's amazing how many different Cars-related products are available in stores, and they are still selling strong. Again, not a huge fan of the movie, but I understand why Disney is trying to capitalize on its marketing potential. The new land will be VERY popular." Selling strong indeed... At a Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Bob Iger went on record regarding Cars. “According to Iger, Cars is the number one film ever made by Disney in terms of film merchandise sales.†Ever… That is extremely strong!

I think what some people are questioning is how much all the Pixar stuff is dumbing down the overall experience at the parks. Obviously these particular characters and situations represent potential for huge profits for Disney. Still, the almost complete sell out to movie based themes strikes me as yet another example that the folks in charge of the company are lacking creativity.

I think the bottom line here is that Disney knows people will come and see attractions if they are good. After all "Quality is a great business plan". I love Finding Nemo the Musical, and Expedition Everest. The two most recent additions to animal kingdom are both quality attractions. One is based on a pixar film, one is emphatically not. Oh, and to clear things up about six flags from a few pages back...they are absolutly failing as a company. They have 2.1 billion dollars in debt, and recently suffered a hostile takeover, they're still in hot water, but at least the oven has been turned off.
