I know this will come as a shock, DAR, but so are we. I know, I know, it's much easier to think we want to hug it out with the people who want to kill us and our children, but we don't. You know us liberals, we're crazy that way.

We've been down this road many times, and putting aside the moving of the goalpost, for some reason I'm still willing to grant you the benefit of the doubt here that you've just forgotten...

Yes, I'm fine with killing terrorists. If we found the cave bin Laden was hiding in, I'm fine with going in there and shooting to kill.

But, though it may seem illogical to you, once you have captured someone, the rules change.

It can, indeed, seem illogical that in wartime if you're shooting at the enemy in battle, it's fine and not a war crime to kill him. But once you take him prisoner, you can not kill (or torture) the same person you were trying to kill 5 minutes earlier.

That may seem counterintuitive, but we have numerous agreements and treaties that bind us to that.

If others break those agreements, so be it. We are better than that, and DO NOT NEED TO BREAK THEM to achieve our objectives.

Please note also that it does not constitute "ganging up on you" if several of us point things like this out in various ways. It does seem like the patience of some is getting thin when you either move the goalposts or seem to forget what you've seemingly understood a few minutes earlier.

    Don't flatter yourself.***

This comment doesn't make any sense. You completely misread what he wrote, but you replied anyway.

***Well please oh mighty and sanctimonious one's save me save me show me the light.***

Probably due to the fact that you were on full on, reactionary "defensive mode".

Perhaps you should examine this character flaw in more detail...it's a big problem for ya, and makes you look foolish when you back yourself into indefensible corners and can't get out in a civilized way (it's not that tough, really...you can do it!).

***<<Deliberate stupidity. Forced thickness. You can not possibly be this dumb in real life.>>

If I would have said that towards Mr. X , Admin police would have been knocking on my door...***

Well, I have no control over what *they* do, but I can say that I wouldn't hit the alert button on ya over something like this (nor would I wish for someone else to do so).

I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm some sort of LP darling or whatever, but the truth is Doobie is a fair guy and he's asked me to tone it down from time to time and even threatened to ban me...so it's not like I've got some special "protection umbrella" or anything.

So don't stand up for what I believe. Got it.

It's fine to stand up for what you believe in. But not if what you believe in isn't true.

And as Stephen A Smith from ESPN used to say However.....

If it does, God forbid, then I will come on these boards and denounce it as ineffective and wrong.

Everyone has my word on that.

Will you? Or will you, as you've done in this thread, try and place it at the doorstep of people who, (in your view), "weep when terrorists get a papercut"?

I think I know the answer to that.

No, it doesn't. That's a logical fallacy. Nothing has been added to Adventureland in the last 8 years either. Was that what stopped a terrorist attack?

    Correlation does not equal causation.

You really should listen to what the experts on this say about it, rather than relying on visceral responses and faulty logic.

Well in fairness, they do have some new things in the shops, and some new Jungle Cruise skippers. I'm pretty sure those guys stopped the terrorists.

You DO realize that you sound like a Dick Cheney soundbite, don't you?

But consider this, given your logic we should've been attacked again already if you are correct.

    Why?

Because Obama put a stop to the torture months ago.

So DAR, if it really was effective, why have we not seen any attacks on U.S. soil?
